36 years of experience

In the spring of 1989, hometown boy Bill Wix opened a water conditioning business that he called Wix Water Works. For the 8 years previous to this, Bill worked for another water conditioning business. Deciding to take “the plunge” and start his own business was a major event in his life. Bill operated the business from 1989-2016 before handing the reins to his son Robert in 2017. Robert grew up in the business and after his high school graduation in 2000, became a full time employee. Over the years, Wix Water Works has had several employees. At the present time, Wix has 3 fulltime employees: Shane Carlson (cousin) heads up deliverys and service calls and has been on board since June 2010. Susan Rewerts is our administrative assistant and has worked for Wix for the past 24 years. Bill also still works for the company. The staff at Wix Water Works is made up of friendly, competent workers with the best interests of their customers in mind. Honesty and dedication to our client's water needs is our utmost responsibility. Wix Water Works is happy to service both residential and commercial operations. We provide sales and rentals of water softeners, water coolers, iron filters, reverse osmosis drinking water systems, ultraviolet lights, and chemical feed systems. Dependable home delivery of softener salt and bottled water is also available. All these products and services are offered at reasonable prices to the customer. Working with the family-owned and operated Hellenbrand manufacturing company of Waunakee, Wisconsin, Wix Water Works sells and rents only high quality water treatment equipment. We firmly stand behind our products and services.

Residential and business water treatment systems. Water softeners, UV lights. We will analyze your water for contaminants such as chlorine, low pH, iron, bacteria, and devise a system to suit your needs. Treat your water from the source, as it enters your home, so whether you are drinking it, cooking with it or bathing in it, your water is pure.

"The process was quick and easy. I just provided a water sample. It was determined that I had high levels of chlorine in our drinking water. I was able to solve my water problems with only one filter. Why did I wait years to have this done? Now I can be confident that our water is safe. Highly recommended."

"These guys can't change a wax ring on a toilet. Literally. They eventually got mine replaced at 6pm on a Friday and they were ready to give up at 5 but their boss told them to stay until done. After they got it ( it took 5 guys, 2 of them just slumbering around ), they charged me $300 for a wax ring . I've got nothing to gain by leaving this review, mainly I wanted to leave one in order to warn people to stay away from this company."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

No, a water descaler won't descale pipes. The charged water running through the pipes may very slowly dissolve mineral deposits and hold them inside the water, but it's a very gradual process. If your pipes do need descaling, it's much better to get a local plumber to descale your pipes.

It depends on the type of surface. For instance, if you’re trying to get rid of hard water deposits on glass, you can spray vinegar onto the surface and wipe it off with a soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge. However, if the deposits are on granite or natural stone, it’s better to use baking soda and water rather than vinegar or other acidic cleaners.

To get utilities set up on a property, you first have to contact the local department of planning to determine whether your property is able to connect to public utilities. From there, you can work with a structural engineer and/or a building contractor to design the layout of utility lines on the property. The pros will need this information as they begin securing building permits before they can start adding lines.

If your property isn’t able to connect to public utilities, you’ll need to consider working with pros to develop a comfortable off-grid home that will meet your needs.

Hard water isn’t necessarily bad for you. In some ways, it’s good for you. If you’re deficient in magnesium or calcium, hard water can give you a mineral boost that you wouldn’t get with soft water. However, this is where the benefits of hard water pretty much stop. Hard water can cause many minor inconveniences and lead to costly, premature replacements of your water-using appliances.

While it depends on how complicated the unit and installation is, it takes two to four hours to install a water softener unit, on average. It might take longer if pipes need to be replaced. You should make sure the installation area is clear of any objects that might get in the way before you begin.
