"Fisher Drywall is the only drywall company I use. For 30 years I have used Fisher from new drywall in a new house, remodeling a commercial space, fixing 50 year old plaster walls, removing popcorn ceilings and coming to the rescue after Derecho water damage destroyed walls and ceilings. The drywall finish is perfection. They are true artists, making all the drywall new or patched, look smooth without flaws. Their team is always professional, friendly, clean, trustworthy and timely. Their work adds equity to your home by fixing wear and tear before you market your home. Worth every dollar you pay."

"I called Cooley Drywall on approximately 9/10/12 to ask for an estimate for ceiling texture repairs. I let him know that we were on a short timeline, and that we needed to have the work done as soon as possible. He came to do an estimate within a couple of days. He seemed very professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. We received an estimate immediately.
We ended up hiring another company because the estimate we received was significantly less than the one from Cooley. We would consider hiring Cooley in the future, provided price was something we felt was reasonable.

"We had a tree come through our bedroom after a major storm in our area. It had taken us a long time to get our roof repaired, and our GM at the time was having trouble finding drywall contractors for the interior, as many other houses in the area were affected. Having to take matters into my hands, I ended up calling three contractors in the area. Brian from ABE answered right away and came over to inspect that afternoon. I found him easy to talk to, and he answered all of my questions. We were scheduled to begin work within two weeks, with work starting this past week. He has shown up on time every day and has basically met all of the timelines he has set for himself. He has been agreeable to providing all of the necessary documentation for insurance purposes. I'm no expert, I don't have major storm damage to fix every day, but I ran the pricing by both my insurance adjuster and general contractor, and they both agree that it was a reasonable price. They also agreed to do the painting, which we have had rooms painted before, and again, I would say the price was very reasonable. The work that has been performed so far looks great. They've installed the drywall and put on the mud layer. There is still texturing and painting yet to go. Will report back once work is complete, but so far have been pleased by the responsiveness, punctuality, and work quality from ABE."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

The easiest way to cut holes in drywall for electrical boxes is to use a spiral saw with a drywall router bit. Hang the drywall without cutting out a hole for the box, but make sure you measure and mark where the box is located on the wall. Once you screw in the drywall sheet, drill a small hole into the box void, insert the spiral saw bit, and move it around the edge of the box using the inside wall as a guide. You can also use an oscillating multi-tool with an electrical box cutout for fast, professional results.

Plaster is a pretty tough surface, but it can still sustain damage from things like bumping against it, water issues, dampness, extreme humidity changes, and plain old age. Most plaster walls last hundreds of years and will only be taken down to the base layer when major repairs are required. Being cautious around the wall, not placing furniture against it, and ensuring stable humidity are all great ways to reduce possible damage.

Yes, drywall can hold a 50-pound TV. However, when mounting a TV, you’ll either need to attach it to wall studs or use drywall anchors. If you use anchors, make sure to buy a type that can hold at least 50 pounds. Molly bolts, threaded anchors, and toggle bolts are all good options. For extra support, you can also install a wall mounting plate with the anchors.

Yes, you can mount a TV on plaster walls—as long as you attach it to the studs. Alternatively, you can use toggle bolts, molly bolts, or another type of hardware that’s strong enough to support a TV.

If you aren’t comfortable with this type of project, you can hire a pro. The cost of mounting a TV to a plaster wall ranges from $25 to $600 (or more), depending on the TV’s weight, size, and other factors.

Whether you can reuse a drywall anchor depends on its type, material, and how it is removed. Plastic anchors, such as expansion or self-drilling types, are generally considered single-use because they are designed to expand and are likely to break or become deformed upon removal. Metal anchors, like toggle bolts, are more durable and can often be reused if they are not damaged during extraction. However, with toggle bolts, the toggle mechanism can fall inside the wall when the bolt is removed, making it difficult to retrieve. If an anchor is damaged or must be cut for removal, it cannot be reused regardless of its material.
