Sometimes, people also use latex-based paint because it’s easier to clean up mistakes with soap and water. Either way, make sure your paint is specifically designed for concrete garage floors. Apply two coats of paint to a garage floor after priming for optimal results. The first coat serves as a base layer, providing adhesion and coverage. Allow the first coat to dry thoroughly before applying the second coat, typically after 12 to 24 hours. The second coat ensures even coverage and durability and enhances the floor's appearance. Additionally, applying two coats helps to create a more substantial barrier against stains, chemicals, and wear and tear, resulting in a longer-lasting finish. 

Mix the resurfacer into a sticky mixture. The consistency should look like mashed potatoes. Use a squeegee to push the resurfacer across the pitted area and smoothen the surface with a cement trowel flush. Make sure you protect any expansion joints with a weather strip. Alternatively, cut out any resurfacer that touched the joint once the mixture begins to harden.

While you shouldn’t use thinset mortar on its own as a floor leveler, it can work alongside other products to help level floors. For instance, you could start with a self-leveling compound, let that dry, then apply backer board with thinset mortar to help fully even out the floors ahead of laying tile.
