Windy Ridge Interior Decorating has for 17 years been turning any space in your home into your dream room. We also specialize in ROOM MAKEOVERS, shopping, consultations, decorating, & organizing. WE ARE OFFERING RENDERINGS TO SHOW YOU THE POTENTIAL OF YOUR HOME!!! 712 210 6833.

"I contacted Gloria after seeing her design display at a local home show. She arrived promptly on ours visits. We live in an open concept town-home. She helped me select furniture for the living room, sun porch, master bedroom and converting second bedroom to an office. She staged each room using several of our own pieces which saved us money. I find it overwhelming shopping on the internet and one of the best services Gloria provided was shopping on the internet as well as at stores. She took the overload of shopping online off my shoulders. Her hourly rate was reasonable for shopping as well as her staging charge. Contact Gloria to see several pictures of the rooms she has designed for me."

Interior Painting questions, answered by experts

Taking the time to properly prepare your tile backsplash before painting and treating it with care afterward is the best way to ensure its longevity. While the tile can last for the life of the home, you may have to repaint it after a few years. However, using only mild cleanser and water to keep it clean can maximize the paint's lifespan.

Whether it’s better to roll or spray exterior house paint depends on your skill level, budget, and time constraints. Spraying produces even coverage quickly and efficiently, but mastering the technique can be challenging, and you might have to do a lot of splatter cleanup. Plus, renting or buying a sprayer costs more than budget-friendly rollers. Professional painters typically opt for spraying as it takes them less time and effort to get a flawless finish than rolling.

While paint drying smoothly on a wall is ideal, a can full of dry paint is not. To open a can of dry paint, you’ll need a tool with a sharp edge, such as a utility knife or a box cutter. Take your tool and score the area where the lid meets the can to break through the dried-up paint. Then, use a paint can opener or a flathead screwdriver to pry the lid open and check the state of the contents. For smaller cans with plastic lids, you can run the top under hot water to loosen the lid.

You should let your initial paint job dry at least 12 hours before opening the door. Check your work after 12 hours have passed to confirm there are no uneven patches, or signs of the old paint showing though—if you see any, we recommend applying a second coat of paint and waiting an additional 12 hours for it to dry.

Paint adheres more easily to fiberglass than other materials, and so do brush marks. Using a brush can result in an uneven texture and patchy appearance, especially when using a quick-drying paint like latex or acrylic. Instead, use a foam roller to ensure the paint is evenly and consistently applied.
