"Failed to show up on agreed upon work date due to overbooking. Bid vinyl for an aluminum replacement, then was unresponsive about bidding aluminum. When we decided to go elsewhere, six months later they sent us an invoice for an additional, arbitrary $3k for work not performed. We disputed the invoice and never heard back until we got another invoice another seven months later seeking double the original amount including monthly interest and an ‘overhead & profit’ fee."

For most homes, the added strength is unnecessary, and oriented strand board, or OSB, makes sense. It’s inexpensive and robust enough for most roof types. Another popular but slightly more expensive option is plywood.

Most homeowners raise the roof in their homes to access the space between their existing ceiling and the roof but flat roofs don’t have this space.
