"Brad is rude and condescending! I had my inspection done by Ben and some things were missed and I called to tell him and he was rude and proceeded to tell me that they were “cosmetic” and such. Well now I have to hire a plumber bc the bottom of the toilet leaks, a person to come out and clean the dryer lint out of the wall that has 100lbs of lint in it, a screen door a railing. What In the world did he do in 3 hours. Makes you wonder?! Stay clear. I have have already warned others that were looking for inspectors."

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

You can buy DIY radon test kits from a home improvement store and conduct radon testing, but these tests are often inaccurate. No matter the result, you should supplement DIY testing with professional radon detection and analysis. DIYers only have access to passive radon tests, which aren’t as reliable as active tests that professionals use. Plus, it’s very easy for DIYers to make mistakes during testing, leading to inaccurate results. If you’re moving into a new home, have concerns about radon, or are due for an updated test, hire a professional.

Mold, VOCs, radon, carbon monoxide, and particulate matter are typically measured.

To determine whether you have radon in your home, you must run a test. Radon gas has no odor or color, so you won’t notice a concentration of radon. You could purchase a DIY test at a local hardware store, but it may not deliver completely trustworthy results. The best way to test and receive accurate results is to hire a local radon detection specialist.

If your home has a sump pit, you can integrate it with a radon mitigation system. You can accomplish this by sealing the pump cover with an airtight lid that accommodates radon vent pipes and sump pump hoses. This allows the vent pipe to redirect the radon gas outside of your home.

It is worthwhile to get radon testing done, especially if you haven’t in the past and don’t have active radon monitoring set up in your home. According to the American Lung Association, radon is a potential issue in all states, and testing is the best way to determine if it’s a current problem in your home. Radon testing includes professional tests that determine ongoing radon levels in your property, and it usually includes a mitigation protocol to help you decide what measures to take to protect your home and household members.
