We initially contacted just the top two Foundation Repair Experts listed on Angie's List because we can't afford to have our home repaired by anyone who lacks the proper credentials, staff, tools, training, techniques, supplies, 25 year transferrable warranty, and the hands on experience to deliver all services as promised. We are extremely pleased with the final results to take back our homes basement from poor workmanship done by the original builder and owner of our home back in 1979 We purchased the home in 2001 and unknown to us the foundation had been placed on top of clay based sub-soil which was an acceptable building practice back in 1979. Today's building codes prohibit this careless and costly practice of home site preparation for the homeowner. After you install your concrete steps, and even as they age, applying a coat of paint or concrete sealer to them every one to two years is a great way to keep them looking fresh and new. We also recommend doing light concrete step repair if you notice chipping or crumbling. You can dress up your steps with planters, decorative railings, and other decor to breathe new life into your stoop as well.

It depends on your priorities. Concrete is more affordable and faster to install, but pavers offer better drainage, are easier to repair, and can create a more high-end look. If budget and speed matter most, go with concrete. If you want style and flexibility, pavers are the better bet.

You should place a layer of thick landscaping fabric directly over the concrete slab and then a thin layer of leveling sand over that to protect the pavers from moisture. For border pavers, you should plan on locking them in place with polyurethane adhesive. This will prevent them from shifting under foot traffic.
