"Great work from start to finish. At the initial consultation Kyle talked through a few options and provided a quote without any gotcha surprises. Throughout the job Pro Coat Painting communication was consistent as I was on the mainland when the job started and the weather in Volcano can make the viable times for exterior painting tricky. They got the house looking great and protected in time for the next rain season."

"Excellent work and truly professional. This is a family business that helped me with the color selections and to make my vision come to life. Joey works very hard and he has years of experience with painting. He addressed the roof rust, vent cracks and need to replace a flashing that was termite eaten (house was recently fumigated). He’s a stand alone professional and Cindy (his wife) is always available to discuss changes, weather delays and whatever concerns come up. They are just awesome. I will hire them again for interior painting soon. Great price, excellent painting job and a pleasure working with them."

"BJ and his crew from Mid Pac Services did a fantastic job over a period of 6 months. In addition to all the actual work they were also extremely helpful and professional in providing support and advice when it came to choosing vendors and providers and were there to receive the material and appliances if we were not able to receive. All the crew members were professional, punctual and very friendly; it was a pleasure to deal with BJ and all the crew members!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

It’s best to use an exterior latex acrylic paint to promote maximum adhesion to composite decking. This flexible paint type can better cope with the natural expansion and contraction that can occur with composite deck boards. Oil-based paints won’t adhere as effectively and are more likely to crack and peel as the boards flex. Testing whether your chosen paint will stick on an inconspicuous section or a spare board is a good idea.

Whether to brush or roll stain on wood depends on the project and your preference. Brushing is ideal for smaller, intricate areas and offers more control over the application, ensuring thorough coverage and penetration into the wood's grain.

Conversely, rolling is efficient for more extensive, flat surfaces and can save time. However, it is not always the best fit for textured or uneven wood. Some projects may benefit from combining both methods, using a brush for detail work and a roller for broader areas. Ultimately, the choice between brushing and rolling depends on the specific requirements of your staining project.

Whitewashing isn’t permanent, but it can last for a long, long time. When you apply it correctly or have a seasoned pro whitewash your brick, whitewashing can last for 20 to 30 years or longer. Whitewash is very durable and typically requires little maintenance, making it a great project for most DIYers.

Essential tools include brushes or rollers, drop cloths, sandpaper or power sanders, and appropriate cleaning supplies. Quality materials ensure long-lasting results.

Deciding whether to stain or paint a pool deck depends on your budget, desired look, and the deck's material. Both options can work. Paint offers a wider variety of color options, provides excellent water resistance, and can last longer. However, it requires a primer and can eventually fade or peel. Stain is often cheaper, easier to apply, and penetrates the wood for a more natural look and longer-lasting finish. It also has great water resistance. The downsides are fewer color options and the need for a sealant. The choice can also depend on the deck material; for example, staining may be a better option for concrete as it bonds well and lasts longer than paint.
