"Great work from start to finish. At the initial consultation Kyle talked through a few options and provided a quote without any gotcha surprises. Throughout the job Pro Coat Painting communication was consistent as I was on the mainland when the job started and the weather in Volcano can make the viable times for exterior painting tricky. They got the house looking great and protected in time for the next rain season."

"I’m very happy with the work done painting my backyard rainwater catchment tank by Aina Paint and Powerwash. Joey, the owner, took the time to properly prepare the surface and use the right materials so the finish will hold up over time. He matched the color perfectly to my house, and the tank now blends in beautifully and looks like it was always part of the design. The work was done carefully and professionally, and I would absolutely recommend Joey and Aina Paint and Powerwash to anyone looking for quality workmanship and attention to detail."

"BJ is an honest contractor, something that is rare these day's. He and his crew are on time and they do what they say they are going to do. BJ goes above and beyond what is stated in the contract to come back and finish little details that aren't even required of him. He simply does the right thing for whatever the situation is. I am wishing now that I had taken before and after pictures but I simply did not. I highly recommend him for any job."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Painted decks typically require a new coat about once every ten years. In between new coats, it's best to maintain your deck by regularly removing debris, washing it down with non-abrasive cleaners, and staying ahead of structural issues, such as loose boards and rotting wood. In some cases, painting a small section of your deck affected by damage or the sun can lower your costs and workload.

When staining a deck, don’t skip surface prep, avoid staining damp or dirty boards, and don’t apply stain in extreme heat, cold, or wet conditions. Never overload the wood with a stain, as too much can cause tackiness or peeling. Also, don’t forget to test a small area first to ensure the color and finish look right.

Ensure gutters and downspouts remain clean, monitor wall integrity, and promptly address any arising imperfections or peels concept permanence rooted.

Wood stain is not flammable after it dries. The solvent in wood stain is what causes the liquid form to be highly flammable, but the stain drying process involves the solvents dissolving, which leaves behind a non-flammable product on your wood project. Wood stain is, however, flammable before you apply it, so you should always store partially full cans and used wood stain rags away from sources of heat and open flames.

The best way to protect a deck is to prevent damage from UV light, water, mold, mildew, insects, and abrasive cleaning methods. Sweep regularly to prevent debris that hides bugs and traps moisture that can result in mold or mildew growth. Use a deck cleaner once a year to remove algae, mold, and mildew. Avoid using pressure washers on high, as they can damage the wood. Applying a deck sealant can protect the wood from UV and water damage, and adding shade can also reduce sunlight damage.
