For the floor we decided to upgrade the floor from linoleum to tile and purchased the tiles ourselves. We asked Jenkins to purchase and install Duroc for the sub-floor to make it more stable for the tiles, which they did. Unfortunately, when they installed the Duroc they covered a heating/airconditioning vent in the floor. They knew they made a mistake but didn't tell us hoping we wouldn't notice and installed the tiles the next day anyway. The tile installation was atrocious; the tile lines were not straight, the spacing between the tiles was not even, and the individual tiles were not level (i.e., uniform height). To their credit, Jenkins bought new tiles and completely re-did the floor to an acceptable level, but this kind of substandard workmanship should never have occurred. For the new cabinets, Jenkins convinced us that Wolf cabinets were an upgrade from what the builder originally provided that would fit within the estimate budget and would be available within two weeks versus four to five weeks for most other cabinet makers. The cabinets were available within two weeks, but looked like they were assembled from components rejected by quality control. A door was off-color; there were numerous cracks and dents in doors and drawer faces; in two places there were gashes in the front, bottom frame of the upper cabinets; the pantry was missing all the shelves; the lazy susan was improperly installed; and two cabinets had six inch cracks in the door frames (which Jenkins tried to hide with poorly applied caulking). Additionally, the installation workmanship was extremely poor quality. We wanted to preserve our existing backsplash, but Jenkins left a large gap between the upper cabinets and the backsplash which they filled with caulk that looked terrible. They re-used a filler piece from our old cabinets next to the dishwasher that did not match the color or style of the new cabinets. They attached the island with only two screws through the tile into the subfloor so the island was not very secure. The under-cabinet microwave was very poorly installed with the mounting screws at a gross angle rather than straight; so much so that it was impossible to get the microwave flush with the bottom of the cabinet and left an approximately two inch gap. The Jenkins solution was going to be a filler piece rather than mounting the microwave correctly. Despite all the cabinet problems, Jenkins argued with us about replacing components and cabinets; particularly the cabinets with the six inch cracks in the door frames. We would agree to a list verbally and then the written punch list would omit items. When it came to correcting the cabinet and workmanship errors, the Jenkins project manager and branch supervisor were very dismissive toward my wife and would not negotiate directly with her or take her inputs seriously. They claimed they had to work with me because the insurance policy was in my name which was not true. In the end, we fired Jenkins Restorations and took a cash settlement from the insurance company that we used to hire a a vastly superior contractor through Angie's List. They were so helpful in our decision process, from suggesting places to choose our flooring to asking us before making any decision on something they thought we may want to provide input or make the final decision. We just bought our house at the end of October and originally started to tackle the floor on our own, but realized right away we wouldn't have the time to finish the project before we moved in at the beginning of December. We called a few different contractors, and Precision Pro Builders were able to easily answer all of our questions and were very knowledgeable. They were timely and communicated quickly via phone, text, and email. Chris and Skip were able to fit us into their schedule and finish all of our flooring before we moved in! They even made suggestions on where to look for our flooring, we ended up going with a Pergo for our living area and bedrooms, and a nice ceramic tile for the kitchen. Based on our experience, we quickly let them know that we would like to hire them for our other big project - a complete kitchen makeover. We designed our kitchen at Home Depot and ordered Martha Stewart cabinets. In the meantime, Chris and Skip and their crew were able to prep for the kitchen install, including demoing a partial wall that separated our kitchen and dining areas. They rerouted all the plumbing and electrical that ran through the wall, and moved the switches to a convenient location. It really opened up our living space, and they thought ahead of all of the changes so we could order our granite countertops and have them ready when the cabinets came in. They also closed up the ceiling where we had them install a water line for our fridge. They retextured the wall and ceiling and blended everything very well so it looked seamless. Once the cabinets came in, Chris and Skip worked us into their busy schedule. I appreciated that when they came to work, they never seemed rushed, and would explain everything they were going to work on that day and their estimated time of completion. Since we were now living in our house, they took care to protect the floors and our furniture, and clean up throughout the project. Precision Pro Builders installed our floor-to-ceiling white cabinets, complete with decorative molding and cabinet handles. They made sure every soft closing door and drawer worked perfectly. Next, they had our gray and white granite slab countertops installed, complete with a cutout area for our sink. Next, the sink, faucet, garbage disposal, and garbage disposal button was installed - Chris suggested a button next to the sink for the disposal vs a switch on the wall, it looks very sleek. They also caught little things we didn't think of, such as moving more switches to fit the cabinets, and making sure the existing exhaust hole lined up perfectly with the new overhead convection oven. Chris and Skip made sure to come back and inspect all of the work, and to make sure we were happy with the final results. Chris is really into the details, he made sure everything looked great. The most helpful thing besides fast and excellent communication was that Precision Pro Builders gave us tips and suggestions throughout the entire process. We appreciated that a lot since there were a lot of little details that went into the projects. I would absolutely use again, and recommend, Precision Pro Builders to anyone looking for a great contractor company on Maui. Flooring, Cabinet installation, countertops, finishing work, plumbing, electrical ... they do it all, and do it well! On October 22, 2014 Mickey picked up our front entrance unit from a building supply center acting as our contractor, costing us $1,386.04 and a gallon of white outdoor paint and quart of black outdoor paint from me at our house. Mickey was supposed to paint the unit white and paint the front door black and install the unit at our house. I have tried to contact Mickey many times via voice mail, eMail, and text messages and Mickey has not returned any of my phone calls or electronic mail. We just want our front door unit returned to us and Mickey's obligations to us end, and we will hire another contractor to install the unit at our house. He was amazing. He figured out the most efficient and cost effective way to build the deck. He skillfully planned everything - from where to purchase the materials to the final staining. I didn't have to think about a thing. All I needed to do was make decisions on type of deck and color. What a relief!! But what really makes this experience stellular, was the fact that he delivered under budget and before the promised due date!! And believe me this is a rarity on Maui, the surf is more important.

I own Hawaiian Experience Spa, a day spa with locations in the Phoenix, AZ area, and have had lots of construction work done at the spas. In most cases I have been disappointed with the contractors we hired to build out or renovate the spas. In this case, Cardinal Floor Covering was my replacement contractor after the first contractor, Fred Kromm Tile in Phoenix, went crazy and left the job! Anyway, we were in the middle of building out a high end shower and steam room. The rough plumbing and electrical was done and it was time for the tile work. We started with Fred Kromm Tile (see his review for details) and after he left mid job we had to scramble to find a replacement. We had two new contractors come in to give us a bid. One never got back to us (typical) but the other, Cardinal Floor Covering, got back to us promptly with a reasonable bid. Chris from Cardinal told us no payment was due until the job was fully completed and we were 100% satisfied. We hired them and they came in as scheduled and got started. Chris met us the first day at the job with two workers, both of whom were very professional. Each day after that the team showed up on time, worked quietly, and respected the fact that they were in an operating day spa with clients present. There was unanticipated additional work needed because the first contractor had done something wrong (what a shock) and they simply did it without even mentioning more money. That is exactly what I wanted to see in a contractor - give me a price, honor it, and get the job done! The steam shower ended up exactly the way we wanted it. Customers always comment about the quality of the tile work. We are building a new day spa in the Glendale, Arizona area and are specifying Cardinal Floor Covering as the contractor for all of our flooring needs. They do a lot more than just tile, and we are looking forward to having them on the job as we build out the next day spa. NOTE: The address on Angie's list is incorrect. They recently moved and are now at 14255 N 79th St #4 Scottsdale, AZ 85260. "},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/az/phoenix/cardinal-floor-covering-reviews-6172813.htm"},"position":10}]}
