"It didn't; he started a job, we paid about $1,200, then left us in worse condition than before he began. For 2 months now, the wood & materials purchased still sit outside my home, subject to various weather conditions. The latest communication from him (via text message), 3 words, "on my way", after a no show, I replied asking apparently you're not going to make it today, will you be here tomorrow, that was 2 day's ago. Now I have, what looks like, a construction zone in my home, for the holidays; for my family & friend's to see. So disappointed, especially since we started this journey Oct. 19th!"

You can put hot pans on porcelain countertops. Porcelain is highly resistant to heat—it’s manufactured at around 2,500 degrees Fahrenheit, so it can withstand a ton of heat without cracking or damaging. Even though the high heat is a plus, you should still be cautious when putting hot surfaces on porcelain countertops.

Just because you can, doesn’t always mean you should. You can apply new tile over existing tile in a bathroom, but the new tile may not look great if you lay it over worn, cracked, or uneven tiles. It takes more time and effort, but removing existing tiles before retiling a bathroom is worth it.

Aim for a narrow gap of approximately 1/16 of an inch, filled with caulk, to allow for this expansion and movement while still allowing for tile shower waterproofing.
