Mike was highly professional: emailed me within 1 day to set a time, confirmed appointment with 2 biz days, arrived on time, very efficient and tidy, brought the right tools, completed the work in a timely way while explaining to me any questions, took away of the old faucet to donate to someone who could recycle it (love that). Mike specializes in handyman projects. He's not part-time, between bigger jobs: he helps people for a living, he cares about you and your home. He's patient and professional, and brings a lot of experience to the project. (Tip: his hidden specialty is woodworking, particularly reclaimed wood.) Overall, I was very very pleased with this project, delighted to meet someone reliable who does quality work, and a professional who works in Midtown. Mike says his schedule is typically booked about 2 weeks out, although he tries to schedule small, new jobs like mine quickly. (I took that as a good sign, and I'm glad he's getting steady business.) I'll be scheduling Mike again soon, and I've already recommended Mike to two friends. My 1920s home required a special level of attention as it had been far too long since being properly painted. No detail was overlooked as they transformed my windows and exterior trim from having cracked, old paint into smooth, beautifully painted woodwork. Beginning with extensive scraping and pressure washing before primer and paint was applied, the JPro painters remained diligent, focused and steady getting the job done as promised. I will emphasize that owner Jean Paul is a real pleasure to work with. He communicated clearly including listening to any concerns I expressed. He delivered on time. He expertly managed his crew, that is by the way considerate and hard-working. They cleaned up daily and left no mess, ever. They were a pleasure to have on site. The quality of their work combined with their can-do attitude made for a very positive experience. I highly recommend JPro Painting for any exterior or interior painting related needs. We were thrilled when Angel Ortiz, a friend of almost a decade, agreed to undertake these projects as he begins his own handyman business. We have never seen anyone work with such energy, skill, and joy. A master woodworker and designer of model boats, Angel created a fence we consider a solid work of art, every detail given thought and polish, a beautiful design element for our antique farmhouse. His years of hardscaping and landscaping have given him excellent stone-working skills and he ably assessed the drainage needs of our yard. He is now in the process of installing the dry wells and connecting the gutter. We are also hiring him to replace our porch steps in the front and back of the house. He has also provided interior carpentry services for an apartment we own in Boston when the condo association required custom molding to be altered for access to a common element. He was able to provide accessibility without sacrificing the decor. We highly recommend Angel Ortiz. He is a delight to work with, respectful and humble, and as noted above, passionate about hard work and beautiful results. He met all deadlines, completed the project right on time even though we had a few changes and he was working with a third party for part of the project (upholstery). This was very important to us because we had a newborn who couldn't move into one of the rooms in our house until this project was completed. I needed a talented handy man who had electrical, plumbing, and woodworking skills. I selected this company because of the range of skills and experience as well as the great ratings. I left Keith a message and he got back to me that day and I explained the job, and we set up an appointment. Keith was ontime (early), examined the job, developed a plan of action, and got right to work. He went room by room, and I checked things off the list. He first took the measurements and went to Home Depot and picked up the wood and stain required. He worked fast, always used a level so there were no mistakes (my house was built in the 20s so nothing is really level). He had all the right tools and was very precise. A lot of the tasks required some problem solving, and he is an excellent trouble shooter and problem solver. He touched up some window sills and other areas with paint I had and I saw that he is a very good painter, very neat and percise, he gets just the right amount on the brush, and he cleans his brushes as he goes. He did a lot of drilling and saawing and he carefully cleaned up behind himself while he worked. He has great electrical skills and plumbing skills, and I was very pleased with the job. It took much longer than planned because I kept thinking of additional things, and he stayed until the job was done. I am very pleased with the work. He is honest and made excellent suggestions and he is reasonably priced. I plan to have him back to do some interior painting and remodeling because of his skill and versitility. He is very customer focused. I do not have any dont's to report. I would recommend Keith to friends and family.

They ran into electrical problems installing a medicine cabinet, under a light fixture, with old supporting beams and newer and older wiring, and had the skills and experience to do the job right and avoid any disasters. They cut a larger space into very old, hard wood, installing a larger medicine cabinet into plaster and had to use a series of tools and saws and did an amazing job. In fixing the plaster holes and cracks, they were very meticulous, and I could not believe that they could fix a hard, cracked, plaster ceiling, where the previous estimates I received were high, and the repair was excellent. They cleaned up behind themselves and both Steve and the other Handyman who worked with him were very polite and professional and efficient, they worked well together. I thought I had more work for the allocated time and I was prepared to pay extra but they finished in less time than I expected. They did such great work and, although I tried hard to give them tips, they refused to take a tip. I would call the back for larger jobs too because these two gentleman had a lot of skills and experience in many areas, including woodworking, electrical, and plumbing. Hello, I have owned my own part-time custom woodworking/furniture business for over a decade, which is growing more and more. I create my own custom furniture, as well as reproduction and restoration. I also have experience with built-ins, stairs, trimwork, and cabinetry. I also offer handyman services, I have 18+ years experience in minor home repairs, such as plumbing, drywall repair, deck and fence repair, cement repair, framing and remodeling, and more. I am honest, fair, and if there is a job I am not qualified for, I will disclose that up front, rather than bumble along pretending I know how. Generally my business over the years has been from referral and word of mouth. I believe in delivering top quality work. I take my time, make sure all jobs are done right, I am very thorough, and emphasize attention to detail. I generally overbuild my jobs for strength and longevity, not sacrificing for cost-cutting measures, unless specifically required to do so, but even then I still deliver maximum quality in my work. I make sure my customers are satisfied before I call a job complete. I always appreciate new business, and thrive off of customer satisfaction.
"Matt did an outstanding job, working almost around the clock and delivering an outstanding product. He delivered even more than promised and was very informed and professional."

FAQs for woodworking projects in Vinings, GA
The average cost to hire a woodworker for a project in your home is around $65 per hour, but hourly rates can range from $35 to $250 or more, depending on the experience and skill of the woodworker. Your total woodworking project cost will depend on the complexity of the work, the type of wood, the number of projects, and any other materials your project requires. You could hire a professional woodworker to create everything from a custom cabinet to ornate, unique staircases.
Hiring a woodworker can be expensive, depending on the job, but it’s very often well worth the investment. Woodworkers are able to provide custom pieces of furniture and handmade construction to present a finished product that is exactly to your specifications. If you have a specific vision for a one-of-a-kind piece of furniture or home feature, the cost of hiring a professional woodworker is worthwhile. Plus, you’ll often get a higher quality product than what you could buy in stores for a fraction of the price.
Every woodworker has different skills and experience, so we recommend asking the following questions when hiring a woodworker for your project:
How long have you been in the woodworking industry?
What experience do you have with my type of project?
Do you have customer references I can speak with?
How long do you expect my project to take?
What is my recourse if I have an issue with your work?
Do you charge hourly or per project?
Will you work on-site or in your own workshop?
Does your fee include the necessary post-job clean-up?
While they perform similar tasks, a carpenter is responsible for the woodworking that goes into construction—like framing, installing sheathing, and hanging kitchen cabinets—while a woodworker tackles more intricate and custom projects—like building custom furniture and installing wainscoting. Based on these definitions, most woodworkers can tackle the jobs of a carpenter, but you should always ask about your specific project when choosing a woodworker to ensure they have the necessary skills to tackle the job.
It may seem simple to install trim, wainscoting, and other finishing wood in your home, but the work is complicated and often frustrating. Getting small trim pieces to line up evenly without gaps and look streamlined in a finished product is a real challenge for DIYers, even if you have the necessary tools. We recommend hiring a professional woodworker for these more intricate projects. They’ll get the job done more quickly, and they’ll have the experience necessary to make everything look neat and clean to add more value to your home.
