Kelley Custom Woodworks

Scott Kelley listened to what we wanted -- a unique piece for our office lobby -- and made drawings and consulted with us to make sure we were on the same page. We relied on his skill and creative input, and the finished product exceeded all expectations. It is a beautiful piece that looks like an antique, although it was made just weeks ago. The construction, the staining and weathering, the custom sign -- all components combine to make an truly unique piece and we've already received many compliments on it.

I paid him in advance $1800 and was assured that he would build cabinets to match my existing cabinets--that is, the stain and design would be the same as the existing pieces. I was told that they had done this type of work before. The final product was completely different as far as stain from the original. He tried several times to no avail. He finally said that it wasn't working out and that he would just refund my money. However, he also gave me some sob stories about how tight money was, so I felt bad. I tried to work with him and said I would try to use something he had made. I even told him I would use something he had made and pay for someone else to come refinish ALL of my cabinets so that they matched. I was told again that if it didn't work out with his product, I would receive my money back. After trying to find something that would match and fit into my kitchen with no luck l, I finally told him that it wasn't going to work and that I needed the money back. However, I was told that because he had been working on the job for such a long time, he wouldn't be able to refund my money. During this time, he had sent me pictures of the cabinets as well and I noticed that they were not complete. They were not flush and were missing crown moulding. So, after being told multiple times that I would be given my money back, I was unable to get it. I have been back and forth with this company for a while, and have yet to come to any resolution. I feel like a reasonable solution to this mess is just to give me my money back as promised so many times so we can both go our separate ways. If not, I would like to at least have my kitchen finished with the appropriate, completed cabinets installed correctly.

Scott Kelley and his wife did a tremendously great job. He had it designed off of my photographs within a day. He did a professional installation including a dry fit. He even rerouted my duct work under the piece. The piece is so good it looks like it was built with the house. His attention to detail is a rare find in today's world!! We are so happy to have this great piece in our home!! I would not hesitate to refer them or use them again.

Kelley was pretty good. They could give more options if it could be done a different way. They just kind of did it one way and we really did not know if we did it the right way or not.

Kelly Custom was excellent to work with. They had great ideas that helped us determine the best design for our space. They then built and installed a beautiful vanity all with a good price and a super attitude. We would/will certainly work with Kelly again on future projects.

I am only now getting around to writing my review for Kelley Custom Woodworks and I'm delighted to finally share my experience even though it's been a year since the work was completed. 

It's difficult to convey in words the craftsmanship that Kelley Custom Woodworks delivered so let me begin by saying that Scott Kelley is not just a master cabinetmaker, he is an artist.  I investigated several cabinet makers before selecting Kelley Custom Woodworks.  I had even hired/chosen cabinet makers on two separate occasions over the past several years only to realize that neither one was the kind of craftsman I was looking for.  Finally, after a decade of waiting to do this project I found the right person for the job.

For me, the overall experience working with Scott was as important as the actual product.  With Scott I had the kind of collaboration where he could anticipate what I was trying to accomplish and them improve on my design.  There was never a problem that Scott could not solve with an elegant solution.  So far I've only mentioned Scott but his wonderful wife Claudia was invaluable in guiding me on a couple of critical design choices.  Claudia had the best "eye" of all of us!

A bookcase is a fairly basic feature in one's home but it has the potential to transform a room when the craftsmanship is there.  For me, there has not been one day over the past year that I have not thoroughly enjoyed the custom bookcase Scott built and it has transformed not only my library but my entire home.

In all honesty you may not need a Kelley Custom Woodworks if you just need someone to build a simple box; but if you have an important project and value true craftsmanship, collaboration and attention to detail... you will not find a better team than Scott and Claudia.  Look no further!

During our consultation with Scott we discussed our needs for the bookcases.  We had initially considered built in bookcases but Scott suggested a modular option that would allow us to move them if needed.  They are cleverly crafted and appear to be built-ins. We are extremely happy with the quality of workmanship and highly recommend Kelley Custom Woodworks for your projects.

Scott did an amazing job. Very honest with pricing and time to build and install. He will make sure you are satisfied and can literally make anything you can imagine. Excellent quality of work and good installation. We love the end result which makes our smaller living room feel much bigger and will certainly add value to our home!

They have done very good job. It is very quickly done and the people is very kind.

All went extremely well.  Pre-project visit was scheduled and held.  Shortly thereafter plans were sent for approval along with a complete price quote.  Delivery was timely and as scheduled with all items meeting 100% of the specifications and also our hopes.  Installation was professional and thorough.  He also added an extension to our living room fireplace mantel on very short notice.  He also made and delivered additional shelves for our storage unit at no extra charge. The quality of the items is first class.  
The quality of the work cannot be overstated. We have received numerous compliments from friends, family and other trade specialists about Scott Kelley's work.   All these custom-made pieces look as if they were original to the house.  
Bottom Line:   Our house has become a home and Scott Kelley's craftsmanship is a key reason why that's the case. 
If you want a personal touch to custom cabinetry, you can do no better.

Very professionally completed.  Our ideas were conveyed to Scott Kelley and we received 3 bathroom vanities exactly, as requested.  We appreciated the follow up questions from Scott during the construction process as he wanted to assure that we would be totally satisfied with the finished product.  The vanities were delivered on-time and without any complications.  Couple the installation of the vanities with our plumbing changes, as well as, granite countertop processing and installation, we were very pleased with Kelley Custom Woodworks working around our tight schedule with the other suppliers.

We had four contractors come out and give us their ideas for the project, along with an estimate. Scott was very friendly and professional and we felt like he had the best ideas for the project. We also liked that Scott would be completing all of the work himself and using all real wood, no MDF. When we received all of the estimates Scott's was the most reasonable so we decided we definitely wanted to go with him.

Scott came out to the house on January 22nd to take final measurements and get our deposit. He told us he should be able to complete the project by the end of February. He showed up to install the cabinets on February 25th and then came a second day on February 27th to rework the mantle and trim everything out. Now that he has finished we have a focal point in our room that we are very happy with and believe will add more value to our home than we spent on the project.

We had four estimates for the job. Scott impressed us the most with his ideas, time spent at our home, and friendliness. It turned out that he also gave us the best estimate to go along with our confidence that he would give us very high quality work. We did not hesitate to choose him for the job. Once we decided on Scott he came out to take final measurements at the end of January and told us he should be able to install the last week of February. True to his word, he installed the cabinets and shelves on February 25th, built the new mantle pieces in his shop on the 26th, and then came back to finish the install on the 27th. We are very happy with the project. It looks great and we feel that we got more than our money's worth.

Buying a new oven became a kitchen makeover for us. The new oven didn't fit in the space the old oven occupied so we needed a cabinet maker to fill in the gap and install the new oven. We found Scott Kelley here on Angie's List in October 2014 and called him. The first contact was with his father who seemed to be a great guy, he told me that his son Scott has taken over the day to day running of the business and doing the woodwork. I got Scott's direct number from his dad and called him. He answered the first time (this alone was impressive). I told him what I needed and he was very honest with me and said that he was going to be busy with jobs until December, however he said he would come out to the house and patch the oven in so we could use it. He said it would be just $80.00  for this and he and his wife could come out that week to do it. I told him to come and let him know that my wife would be the only one there because I was going to be out of town and wouldn't be able to help. He said that was no problem. He showed up the day he promised and right on time. My wife was very impressed with both Scott and his wife. Scott got the oven in place and working and put a board in to fill the gap. Our new oven was working! While there my wife and Scott talked about what could be done with the oven stack to make it more functional as we needed to change it anyway. They came up with several ideas and left it that we would talk further in December when he came back to finish the oven. The last week of December Scott and I talked and he once again showed up the day he said he would and right on time. He and his wife had some great suggestions as to what to do with the space and Scott was able to rough sketch what we discussed. At the same meeting we also brought up a new island to replace our old one which was looking tired and leaning a bit. Once again Scott and his wife has great suggestions to add to what my wife and I were thinking about. Scott left with sketches in hand and sent us back a very professional drawing of what the island would look like. He quoted a price and we agreed to move forward. To my amazement, he said it would only take 3 weeks to complete. I was even more amazed when he did it on time and stuck to original price! Scott had to custom make the trim to match what was in our home and also match 30 year old stain. He had to custom make cabinet doors to match what we had. All are first class jobs and look awesome. Before he started building the island he came back out to talk over what we decided on to make sure it was exactly the right thing. Sure enough, as we spoke we made some modification which made the island even more usable for us. When he came to install everything he wasn't fully pleased with the way it looked so he took the doors back with him and worked to match what we had even better. A week later everything was complete and it is fantastic. We have already talked to him about some other custom work in the kitchen and I can see many jobs in my future using Scott.

Very professional.  Excellent quality service.  He built a custom glass-faced cabinet, painted, and installed it.  He redid the molding across the top of all the cabinets (new cabinet and existing cabinet) so that it all looked like original cabinetry.  Would definitely use these folks again.  A good carpenter is hard to find.

I submitted a photo of the wardrobe I wanted constructed.  Mr Kelley did a  great job of tweaking and finalizing the exterior dimensions. I was also very pleased with his many helpful suggestions and design of the interior of the wardrobe. The quality of the workmanship and materials is excellent.

They helped us design cabinets that looked like the cabinets already in our kitchen.  They provided great insight on the available options and what would look good in our kitchen.  We are very happy with the cabinets and they did the work for half the cost of the other providers with which we received quotes. We will certainly give them a call for any custom woodworking projects in the future.

The Kelleys' shop is wonderful. The scope of our project was small but they were able to customize some existing cabinet doors we had to significantly improve their look in our room--we added custom sized glass, and were extremely happy with the work. They went above and beyond what we asked for in the finish details.  
We would recommend them for any size project that involves quality and not cookie-cutter woodworking.

Scott and his wife were spectacular.  He certainly had our best interests in mind.  He had discussed price based on the dimensions I provided, but when he came to the house he realized the project was bigger than he thought.  Despite this, he came in near the price we had discussed, which is fantastic.  The work is outstanding...real wood vs. the MDF that the builder had originally used.  He took great care in ensuring our house was clean before he left as well.  Very honest and doesn't try to oversell.  Will use them again without question, when we have a project need in the future.

This is the second time I?ve had work done by Kelley Custom Woodworks.  Once again we worked together to come up with
something that would fit my needs.  The end product couldn?t have been better.  No problems encountered.  I highly recommend
their work.

I couldn't be more pleased with the furniture that they built - I searched high and low for a long time for a piece that would fit my needs with no luck.  The piece they created is exactly what I envisioned and is beautiful.  They were easy to work with - Paul handled all of the communications, was always very prompt in replying to any questions, and kept me in the loop on the progress.  The job was finished right on time (it would have been done early if not for the two ice storms that kept them from being able to go to their shop for several days) and both Paul and Scott came by to deliver it and make sure everything was set up perfectly.  I have gotten several compliments on the furniture and I absolutely love it!

Estimate was best I had received, laying out those items that had not been included so there was no misunderstanding. Helped with ideas for design, had no problem with modifying design, verified design and color before proceeding, just did everything right! The finished product was stunning, much better than I had expected. Scott and Paul were both pleasant and cooperative, very easy to work with. We had a delay resulting from a several week illness but that is unavoidable when you work with a small business and they were very diligent about catching up on the work commitments. I will definitely use them again and would recommend them to friends.

Scott and Paul were fantastic to work with.  I contacted them at the start of our basement renovations and gave them plenty of lead time from the initial measurement to the date when I wanted them installed.  The cabinets are a show piece to our home and we've gotten many compliments to all who've seen it.

The only thing I would caution someone about is the proper amount of lead time for big projects.  Call them early in your project planning and you'll be very happy with their work.
