Small jobs welcome

"Very happy with the results of our deck! Eagle Fence was very professional and knowledgeable about the work needing to be done. They added the deck to our existing screened in porch and also installed the solar lights for us. It was completed in a timely manner and they cleaned up all materials, trash, etc. Definitely a great addition for our family during summer time!"

"I recently had a 4-board fence installed, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. The crew was professional, showed up on time, and completed the project exactly as promised. The quality of the workmanship is excellent, and it’s clear they take pride in what they do. They kept the job site clean, communicated well throughout the process, and made sure everything was done right before they left. If you’re looking for a reliable fence company that delivers quality work at a fair price, I would definitely recommend them. I’m very pleased with my new fence and wouldn’t hesitate to use them again in the future."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

Regular staining, sealing, and inspecting for rot or insect damage prolongs fence lifespan.

Issues include rust, loose posts, and damaged mesh. Regular maintenance prevents significant problems.

You can use soil and gravel instead of concrete when setting fence posts. However, concrete is more durable and longer lasting, so it's worth considering if you want your fence to withstand the test of time. You should especially consider concrete if you live in a region that experiences severe weather, which can damage your fence.

Whether you need a permit to build or install a fence depends on several factors, including your location, the fence's height, its placement in your yard, and the materials used. In many cities and highly populated areas, a permit is required, especially for fences taller than 6 feet. Conversely, rural areas may have fewer restrictions. Typically, backyard privacy fences 6 feet or shorter do not require a permit, while front yard fences often have a lower height limit, sometimes as low as 3.5 feet. There can also be exceptions for properties in mixed residential-commercial zones. It's best to check with your local building inspection or zoning department to understand the specific requirements, height restrictions, and location rules for your area. A professional fence installer can help you navigate this process and often secure the necessary permits for you, though this may extend the project timeline.

If you hire a fence installer for the project, the time it takes to build a fence is about 20 to 30 hours. Tackling the project yourself will take around 40 to 50 hours. It can take longer if you need to obtain permits, level the ground, remove the old fence, or remove a tree.
