"TeGA decorated my entire 2 bedroom apartment perfectly. Terri listened to my ideas (colors & style) and turned my apartment into a beautiful, comfortable space. My friends and family are blown away whenever they see my place for the first time! The prices are reasonable and I highly recommend TeGA! Anthony J. 8/2017"

"Amazing!!!! She has wonderful ideas and art work (which I purchased).. she opened my eyes to a new way of designing and decoratings. I saw her professionalism in her attitude and work. With Corie B actions and words spoke volumes. The way she color coordinates and put accent colors in was mind blowing to me. I can't wait for her to come and do my other 2 bedrooms and bath.. My only regret is that I didn't have but one living room and one dining room for her ro design..my master bedroom & barhroom look like it came from HGTV magazine..When she was done I thoughtshe was from their team..GREAT WORK Corie B ...10??????????from me"

"As a contractor, I was interested in finding a designer that was not only skillful and creative, but one that was also personable and easy to work with. I saw the great reviews about Quintus and decided to contact him. After our first conversation, I knew I had found what I was looking for. We met at the residence of an upcoming interior remodeling project which included a kitchen, a dining room and a laundry room, along with hardwood flooring. Quintus had great ideas and did an outstanding job with the design and house plans. He even accompanied me to the Department of Planning and Sustainability to help secure the permit. The end results were excellent. I could not be more pleased with the work and with the relationship going forward."

Interior Design and Decorating questions, answered by experts

Professionals often use extra materials that aren’t included in traditional tree decorations, like pins and more expensive wired ribbon that can be carefully shaped. But even without these elements, you can improve your decorating by taking a few professional cues.

Always start by picking an overall theme, including colors, types of ornaments, and the overall feeling or message you want to create. Fluff your tree to its fullest potential, and include a generous amount of garlands, lights, ornaments, and bows to complete the look. Professional trees tend to be very “full” and well-balanced, with only a couple of ornament types to help the decorations flow.

Services include layout planning, material selection, lighting design, and appliance placement to optimize the space.

Hiring someone to decorate your Christmas tree costs about $400 on average, ranging from $200 to $1,500 or more, depending on the type of decorating service, size of the tree, location, and materials used to decorate the tree. Price ranges vary by service type:

  • Handyperson: $60–$125 per hour

  • Professional light installer: $300 per hour

  • Interior decorator: $50–$200 per hour

  • Christmas tree designer: $600–$1,500 per tree

While the terms 'interior designer' and 'interior decorator' are often used interchangeably, they represent distinct professions with some overlapping work. The primary difference lies in the scope of their projects.

An interior decorator focuses on the aesthetics of a space, making less permanent decisions about decor. Their work involves selecting colors, fabrics, furniture, wall art, paint, and other finishes to 'dress' a room and enhance its style.

An interior designer has a broader scope that includes a decorator's aesthetic focus but also extends to the structural and functional aspects of a space. Designers are qualified to plan layouts, make structural changes, and manage overall functionality. They handle permanent decisions regarding fixtures like cabinets and bathtubs, establish floor plans, and may hire contractors.

Due to the technical skills required, interior designers typically have formal education, certification, and may hold a license, which can result in higher fees. As a general rule, it is best to hire an interior designer for major remodeling projects and an interior decorator for projects focused on establishing or refreshing a home's interior style.

Look to the professionals when figuring out the secrets to styling a bookshelf. Place decor in varying heights, mix colors and textures, and always create a balanced overall design by alternating where you place extra decor items. Most importantly, don't overfill the shelf. Leave a bit of open space to deter clutter.
