"All went very well. Sam Dolan is a real pro. in the quoting dept. The guys who did the roofing repairs worked very hard and had very good customer skins as well. Asphalt shingles started gaining popularity in the early 1900s, so wood shake roofs, which were popular in the 1700s when Cape Cod homes were first built, are the traditional option. You can further modernize your Cape Cod home by raising the roof in the front, back, or both to add living space and change up the traditional single-gable roof with doghouse dormers.

EPDM roofs have a few common problems, most of which can be resolved with regular maintenance. This type of roofing is laid down in sheets with seams, which can be a starting point for leaks. Proper installation and roof sealing can often avoid seam issues. 

The material is also susceptible to tears and punctures from falling branches or other sharp objects. There are black and white versions of EPDM, and the black version is more prone to fade and succumb to UV damage. Regular roof inspections can protect the costs of rubber roof installation and extend the life of your roof.

You shouldn’t put a new roof underlayment over an old one for a few reasons. Old felt must be removed in order to assess the condition of your roof decking, such as rotting wood or other structural issues.
