"We just moved to the area and had an issue with electricity when we purchased a new appliance. Mr. Electric of Southeast GA sent a young man to our house to fix the issue. I cannot explain how happy I am with him. Not only was this young man polite, on time and professional but he got along with my husband like they had been friends forever. That goes a long way in my book! We will definitely be using this company again for any electrical needs we may have and highly recommend them! "

Harms Way has 3 employees, 2 part time and 1 full time, I'm a small business at this time so i require payment on completion of the job, if I give you a bid and the job gets done faster than calculated I will make sure to deduct the proper amount that makes it correct bc i know every dollar is hard earned and respect that.

Free estimates. I am the owner and sole employee. I only use assistance from others where needed. Anything that I can't do at the time I will gladly provide references to those who can. Payment is needed for materials and at least 40% of the labor cost upfront and the remainder of the labor costs upon completion of the job.

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

It’s possible to install your own ceiling fans if you’re replacing an existing one. This work doesn’t require a permit and technically doesn’t necessitate a certified electrician, but it’s still a good idea to hire one. There’s always a safety risk when working with electrical components, even if you shut the power off at the breaker. If you’re installing a new ceiling fan where there currently isn’t a fixture, you will need a licensed electrician to run the new wiring and pull permits for the work.

The square footage of your room will dictate the correct ceiling fan blade size. For example:

  • Rooms smaller than 75 square feet require a fan that is 29 to 36 inches.

  • Rooms up to 175 square feet require 42- to 48-inch fans.

  • Rooms up to 350 square feet require 52- to 56-inch fans.

  • Expansive spaces over 350 square feet need a fan larger than 60 inches.

Yes, adding wiring for a ceiling fan where there is none requires an electrician to build the electrical infrastructure. You should not attempt to do this job yourself, as electrical work can be dangerous without experience. All told, the job is a big one, and it might cost up to $2,000.

When choosing a mounting bracket, you have the option between flush mounts and downrod mounts. Flush mounts are the better option for low ceilings as they feature a lower profile. Downrod mounts are the optimal choice for rooms with high ceilings as they offer a pole that adjusts the height of the fan.

Most installations take 3-6 hours, but complex electrical wiring or additional attic ventilation work may extend the timeframe.
