"We're very happy with the results. The floor is much more level, and you can tell throughout the house--doors that used to swing shut on their own now stay in place. The floor also feels much more secure; things on the counters don't shake when you walk by anymore. The crew came on time each day and completed the work within the time frame they said they would, despite some bad weather."

"This was alright. The carpet was pretty bad so he couldn’t guarantee it could be cleaned by doing a normal cleaning so he had to get the brush out and do a scrub on it. The steam cleaner wouldn’t have cleaned it properly. He did a fine job on it and it the carpet cleaning. I wouldn’t use him again because he is far out of town."

Small jobs welcome

"From the first conversation, they were super easy to talk to and really seemed to get what we were going for. No pressure, just helpful ideas and good advice. The cabinets turned out better than I expected. The craftsmanship is top-notch. Everything feels solid, looks great, and fits the space perfectly. You can tell they really care about the quality of their work. The installation was seamless. Showed up on time, were respectful of the space, and made sure everything was cleaned up when they finished. It was honestly one of the smoothest projects we've ever had done in the house. If you're thinking about custom cabinets or anything similar, I’d definitely recommend Kendall Carpentry. They nailed it."

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Joists do distribute their load to beams, but they don’t sit on top of the beams. Instead, home builders nail or screw the joists directly to the beams such that the end of the joist butts up against the edge of the beam. Beams can sit on other beams for support, but you’ll never see a joist sitting on top of a beam or another joist.

Accurate measurements, sturdy materials, and seamless integration with other structures.

Converting a carport into a garage can vary in difficulty depending on its configuration, the condition of the foundation or slab, and its location relative to the house. The process has a lot in common with a home addition, but you can often skip non-essential finishes like fine flooring, trim work, or even drywall and HVAC. The conversion requires experience with drywall, insulation, and other building materials to ensure it’s done safely and correctly. While it might be possible for a DIYer with the proper tools and skills to do the work, it is a complicated and potentially dangerous job. If you’re new to basic construction, it's best to leave this project to the professionals.

Framing most homes takes anywhere between five and eight weeks to complete. You’ll need to account for inclement weather conditions, material shipment times, the number of crew members, and the weight of your materials. If the weather is too hot, wet, or cold for the installation, this process could take closer to eight weeks.

Baseboards don’t have to be nailed into studs. However, nailing them into studs adds to their stability. When studs aren’t available, you can secure them with drywall nails directly into the drywall and adhesive. Always aim to nail into studs, especially in high-traffic or impact-prone areas.
