"Replacing the bathtub with a shower was a bit pricey but we think it is well worth the money. No more fears of falling while getting in and out of a really deep tub. We are very happy with the quality of work and the people explained everything before starting the project. We definitely recommend these folks."

"Our installers Jason Stamps, Justin Trotter and Josh did a fantastic job. Friendly and efficient. A defect was discovered in one of the panels so another was brought to the jobsite, eventhough we are over an hour from Chattanooga. They kept us informed of time required to finish and cleaned up after themselves. Including wet mopping the floors. Would highly recommend. Hoping to replace a bathtub in the future; we will call West Shore Home. I also want to thank Jon Pedersen for taking his time with us deciding what we wanted for a shower. Jon's an asset to your company along with the 3 installers"

"I was really tickled when the Limitless team took extra time and trouble to implement some special touches I requested during our tub-to-shower reno. Specifically, Ryan and Dawson salvaged and chipped away at a few tiles from the demo'd 1955 tub wall. They used these inside the shampoo niche to tie the new shower in with the rest of the retro-cool seafoam green tile that we love and chose to keep in place. Ryan also used his skills and tools to replace my ceramic TP holder with one I had bought overseas. And when I realized I didn't love the trendy rainfall shower head, they swapped it out. There were a few minor mix-ups/mistakes along the way. But most were fixed with no problem. And I was very pleased with the finished work! Everyone I worked with (Christina, Lance, Jeremiah, Ryan & crew) was very professional, and accessible....great communication! The total cost still seemed expensive to me. But I don't have much experience with home renovation to compare."

"On Friday night noticed that our heater was not working and this was the one that fed the bedrooms.  On Saturday morning called another provider (also listed on Angie's List) with who we had a service agreement at 6:30AM.  Spoke with the answering service and was told that I would get a call immediately.  I never heard back till 8:00AM, when I called them again.  This time I spoke with someone who told me that the earliest that they could get someone in to fix, would be Monday morning.  When I mentioned to them that we found them on Angie's List, and had a Service Agreement, he had a blasé attitude in his response which basically said - "... I don't care..."
In any case, as we had a Service Agreement with them, we felt that going with another provider would not make sense, and waited till Monday morning for the service technician.
On Monday, the technician came in and within 5 minutes determined that the electrical igniter was broken and needed to be replaced, and quoted a price of $350 for the repairs.  Looking online, we saw that the part actually cost ~$25, and when we mentioned it to the technician, he said that they don't get it for that price.  Instead they get charged ~$75 for the part.  The rest, $275 was the labor charge to fix it.  What did not make sense to us was why a part that took 5 minutes to remove, would take $275 to replace.  That means that their service fee amounts to almost over $3,000 / hour!  Naturally, we decided NOT to use their services even though we had a service contract.
As we were still without a heater, we searched Angie's List once again, and found Dayco.  We read up on the reviews, and decided to give them a call.
What stood out was their level of service from that first call.  First, Philip, who answered the phone, was extremely polite, heard what the problem was and gave us an appointment for the next day.  We were also told that if there was a cancellation, they would schedule us in for the same day.  Second, the appointment window was a 1.5 hour window (the previous company gave us a 3 hour window).  When there was a cancellation for that day, Philip enquired if the technician could come in, and gave us a 30 minute  window of his arrival!  That, in my opinion, was fantastic!
The technician was prompt, completed the work as discussed and at the price that was discussed.  There was no additional selling of services, contracts or upgrades.  Absolutely perfect, in my books!

Bathtub Replacement questions, answered by experts

Persistent leaks, outdated styles, or surface damage are indicators for a replacement.

Whether converting a tub to a shower is worth it depends on your personal circumstances and priorities. For many, a shower is a safer option that reduces the risk of slip-and-fall accidents, making it a valuable upgrade. It can also be a worthwhile conversion if a shower is more practical for your lifestyle and you rarely use the tub. However, there are potential downsides to consider. The cost, which can range from $1,200 to $8,000, can be a deterrent. Additionally, if you have young children, a bathtub is often easier for bathing them. Finally, removing the only bathtub in a home can potentially lower its resale value in the eyes of some buyers.

Completing a full standard bathroom remodel offers the best value, with an average return on investment (ROI) of 70%. However, you don't need a full remodel to make an impact. To maximize value, focus on key components like flooring, the tub and shower, vanity, and cabinets. High-value upgrades include installing a walk-in shower, resurfacing a tub, retiling, or expanding the shower. For more budget-friendly options that still increase value, consider repainting with a light, neutral color, or updating the mirror and light fixtures. It's also crucial to address any necessary repairs, such as leaks, mold, or cracked tiles, as buyers will notice these issues. Avoid flashy upgrades like bathtub jets or steam showers, which don't add as much value.

Installing a walk-in bathtub can be worth it if it improves the user's safety and independence. However, because walk-in tubs require a large investment, not every homeowner has the means or desire to install one. As an alternative, some homeowners prefer to install a walk-in shower and transfer bench instead. Walk-in showers cost between $1,150 and $8,000, making them far more budget-friendly in comparison.

It’s substantially less expensive to reglaze a tub than to replace it. The average cost of reglazing a bathtub is between $400 and $700, but that range may be higher based on where you live and the type of tub you have. Meanwhile, if you want to replace the bathtub, you’re looking at $2,000 to $9,400, with the average close to $5,700.
