"I needed fabrication ideas for a couple of trailers and a tractor. Micah was responsive to calls and gave helpful information to help me make an informed decision. He arrived when he said he would. He is very personable and respectful. His work is top notch. He is very tedious and precise. The finished products are tight and neat and look like they were originally part of the equipment. Highly recommend!"

Small jobs welcome

"Southern Way Fix & Finishes did an outstanding job at Urban Air! Their dedication and hard work really showed from start to finish. They did a great job painting the floors and walls, and the finished work looks excellent. What really stood out was the quality of the work, attention to detail, and the great price. They worked hard, stayed committed to getting the job done right, and delivered a finished product that we’re very happy with. I would definitely recommend Southern Way Fix & Finishes to anyone looking for quality work at a fair price!"

"Heavy D's Welding replaced our wooden balusters with solid iron balusters we had already purchased. Each baluster also had a top and bottom "shoe". All total, there were 149 balusters and Drandy did a beautiful job installing each and every one. He's patient and kind and works hard to do a good job. He worked for three ten-hour days and then finished the project early on the last morning. He's honest, capable and keeps a neet work place. His prices are very reasonable. We will be hiring him to weld and install and outside gate sometime over the next 12 months."

Wrought Iron questions, answered by experts

If you hire a fence installer for the project, the time it takes to build a fence is about 20 to 30 hours. Tackling the project yourself will take around 40 to 50 hours. It can take longer if you need to obtain permits, level the ground, remove the old fence, or remove a tree.

There are many types of fences available to homeowners, including wood, chain link, wire, concrete, brick, corrugated metal, and more. Some fences offer practical solutions for pets and wild animal deterrents, while others offer aesthetics that boost curb appeal. Consider what you’re looking for in a fence to help you decide which is best for your home.

As with any project or material, installing wrought iron fencing has advantages and disadvantages. Some pros and cons of this fence material include:

Pros

  • Long lifespan with proper maintenance

  • Very durable

  • Aesthetically pleasing

  • Functional as well as decorative

Cons

  • Requires regular maintenance and cleaning

  • Expensive compared to other fence materials

  • Limited privacy

Most homeowners who install a wrought iron fence do so because it provides security. The material is sturdy and deters intruders from entering your property. They're also built to last and won't rust if you purchase a galvanized iron fence. So, you don't have to worry about replacing fencing every few years like you might with wood or other less expensive materials. Most homeowners also adore the look of wrought iron fencing, which adds a timeless look to just about any style home.

The most common type of metal fence today is one made of either steel or aluminum. These materials are relatively easy to fabricate, making them much more cost-effective than traditional metal fencing handmade from wrought iron. They’re also much lighter and easier to install, contributing to their affordability and making them more DIY-friendly.
