"I had an old wooden attic ladder that got broken from a water heater being carried down it. The door wouldn't close all the way. I purchased a replacement and realized it was too heavy for me to deal with. Chris contacted me and gave me a great price. He and his son Caleb came and installed (including cutting the ladder down to fit and also some additional adjustments for the hole so it fit accurately). They cleaned up the area and even got rid of the box that the new attic ladder came in. I was so happy with the work, I asked him to give me a price on another project."

"This was my first experience with Home Advisors. However, will not be my last. We are in the process of getting our current home prepared to go on the real-estate market and needed the services of a "Professional" Painter / Drywall company. After reviewing the various companies available to me we settled on Quality Drywall & Painting. Was able to engage owner Steve Scott and arrange for him to make a site visit in order to provide me with an accurate estimate for our job. He promptly met with my wife and I on a Saturday morning as we have been out of town finishing up the construction of our retirement home in Northeast Georgia. Our job was rather extensive regarding a â  Completeâ  interior painting of ceilings walls trim and molding. The job also was inclusive of various drywall repairs and cabinet painting in the kitchen, (2) bathrooms and laundry room. In addition, there was a large outdoor deck that was incorrectly painted (By another contractor) that had to be stripped and receive a color change. Lastly there was a detached shop that required walls, molding and epoxy flooring. I would be remiss not to state that we were under a very tight time line in which get our current Southwest Georgia home prepared for sale. The (3) man crew worked between 12 and 16 hours per day in order to assist us with our objectives. As previously stated, these guys we pouring their best into our job. After observing the integrity and attention to detail provided be these men my wife and I decided to allow the crew to stay at our home during the project. Our thoughts were that this would conserve on travel time, increase productivity and reduce their operational costs as they were traveling upwards of (3) hours a day during the first (2) days. Therefore, the last (5) days the guys took us up on our offer. Our home received all of the paint color lighting and ceiling fan upgrades that our realtor recommended. So as to be clear, the crew changed nearly every ceiling fan and light fixture in the entire house. As we are now at the end of our project the men have exceeded our expectations while helping us to remain on track with our hard-scheduled deadline. While finishing up the final punch list items (Final Day 7) our realtors stopped in to check on the progress to goal. One of the ladies asked if I had already had the final home clean-out performed. I quickly replied that it was scheduled for tomorrow morning. Needless to say, she was surprised. Just another example of the attention to detail Quality Drywall & Painting provides their customers! Our realtors were amazed with the transformation as well as quality of craftsmanship that had taken place in our home. While departing, the elder realtor stated, â  this house will be sold in a week!â  My response was, â  I sure hope so!â  Couldnâ  t have met these goals without the good folks at Quality Drywall & Painting. If you are looking for a Painting and Drywall contractor that can handle most any job while exceeding your expectations, then I strongly suggest you give Steve Scott at Quality Drywall and Painting a call. You won't be disappointed. Sincerely, Michael D. Walent SR."

"Hunter and his team did an excellent job . They arrived early each of the 3 days they were here .Took 3 days to tear out old 24 x 24 wooden deck and replace with a 24 x 24 composite deck with a railing system . Hunter is coming back next week to give an estimate on putting up a wooden fence....Great job guys."

Small jobs welcome

"I highly recommend the company and Geoffrey’s exceptional service. I had work completed at my residence, including a front door knob and deadbolt update, and the replacement of two exterior spigot handles. Communication was impeccable, with both reminders and updates regarding the arrival time on the day of service. The technician arrived punctually, conducted a thorough inspection, captured photographs, and completed the job in approximately two hours. While I am uncertain whether the cost was appropriate, I was comfortable with it and thoroughly appreciated the high-quality service provided."

Deck Repair questions, answered by experts

A deck doesn’t have to be perfectly level. Many pros even recommend a gentle slope to ensure proper drainage and increase longevity. The ideal gentle slope is about 1/8 to 1/4 inch per foot away from the property, leading water away from the home to prevent pooling and reduce the risk of damage. It also minimizes rot, mold, and other moisture-related problems.

It is recommended to clean your deck once or twice a year to prevent the accumulation of dirt, debris, mold, and mildew. The ideal times for cleaning are in the spring and fall. A spring cleaning removes grime that has built up over the winter, preparing your deck for summer use. A fall cleaning washes away messes from summer activities, preventing them from setting into the wood over the winter. The exact frequency can depend on factors such as how often the deck is used, its exposure to pollen, and whether salt was used on it during the winter. Regular cleaning helps protect the wood and its finish from damage.

You typically don’t need a railing and handrails on a deck that’s less than 30 inches from the ground. However, consider adding them regardless. Railings provide additional safety for you and your guests who use your deck—plus, railings give the deck a more finished look than it would have without them.

For the best results, stay off of your deck for at least 48 hours after sealing it. Giving the sealant at least two full days to cure ensures it can fully penetrate the wood, giving you the most protection from sun and weather damage later on. Walking on the deck too soon can prevent it from properly curing and cause your deck to weather prematurely.

Before installing any materials under the deck for removing moisture, you should perform some prep work on the ground. Work the dirt under the deck to create a grade away from the home. A grade of at least six inches for every 10 feet works well. Do not leave a gap between the dirt and the home’s foundation where water could pool. Once you or a contractor regrades the dirt under the deck, you then can add materials over the top.
