"They did an excellent job cutting down the trees I needed and it storm the next day and I felt so happy. The scary tree was gone. I just ask the guy to cut a branch and he said he would and didn't. That is my only complaint. But overall I would recommend them and hire again."

"Great experience. Robby, the owner was knowledgeable, courteous, and professional. He provided a great price, and completed the removal of three very large tree stumps, on an incline, in less than tow hours. I recommend Grind South to anyone needing tree stump removals."

"They did a good job of cutting and removing the tree limbs at a good price and they were fast, but one of the tree limbs broke a large concrete flower urn and they did not tell me about it. Their English was very limited, I told them numerous times to not go on the neighbors property and climb his trees, but they did it anyway until I told them they are trespassing and the police may come, then they understood."

"I found this company through Angi and was impressed from start to finish. After I submitted a request, they called me right away and came out the same day to give a quote. The next morning, they were back on time, ready to work. The crew was professional, friendly, and efficient. They removed the trees in front of my house quickly and left everything clean. I highly recommend them!"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

You should plant trees at least 15 to 20 feet away from your house, and more if the tree will grow large and spread its limbs. Trees pose several dangers to houses when planted too close. They can litter the roof with leaves and branches, create fire hazards, make a ladder for larger pests, and even damage the foundation as their roots grow.

It’s not as common for Dutch elm disease to affect other types of trees, especially if the surrounding trees aren’t elms. However, it is possible for DED to spread to other trees, particularly in northern states, like Minnesota. In fact, it’s a good idea to use geography to identify wood and determine which types of trees are in your yard.

Unfortunately, the complex and shallow root system of elm trees makes surrounding elm trees particularly vulnerable to DED. Early discovery is key!

Yes, pruning makes trees stronger because it fosters proper growth, weight distribution, and balance of the crown. By increasing the structural integrity of the tree through pruning, it’s less likely to experience disease, pests, broken limbs, and storm damage. Pruning the right branches and limbs is key to improving a tree’s strength and balance.

Pruning is an effective way to prevent a diseased branch from infecting the rest of the tree. If the infection isn’t caught early enough and the pathogen has spread to the trunk or the majority of the branches though, it is too late to prune off the affected areas and you’ll likely need to remove the tree.

All of the tree root removal methods mentioned above are effective on any kind of root, whether it’s still growing or simply needs a gentle nudge to finish decomposing. The only difference is that larger roots tend to be harder to remove and may require multiple chemical treatments as well as manual labor to eradicate.
