"Georgis Best Concrete, LLC completely replaced my driveway, sidewalk and front steps yesterday. Their work is absolute perfection! Chris Tamayo (owner) explained clearly what would be done and quoted a great price for complete removal and replacement of an old driveway, sidewalk and front steps. The team he sent was amazing - they are professional and definitely expert at concrete installation. Every team member worked carefully and diligently to compete the job. Chris was here working with them to inspect and approve the installation. I could not be happier with my new driveway, sidewalk and steps!! If you need any concrete work done I highly recommend Georgia Best Concrete, LLC!!"

"I had quotes from seven different companies. The quote by Joe at Classic Concrete included the best solution for what i wanted to accomplish. I wanted to widen my driveway and make a few other adjustments. All other companies suggested we demolish the existing driveway (not knowing whether or not the older driveway was under it) and going from there. That left the quote open ended. After looking at the project, Joe determined that the current driveway was in good shape and did not need to be replaced. He suggested doing the widening, and then using concrete paint to blend it. The end result was great! I so appreciate a company that tries to help the customer instead of trying to get the biggest job. Thank you, Joe! Also, thank you to Raul, who did a fabulous job on the actual work! Great company!"

"Concrete Solutions did better than expected. After a very frustrating home addition with another contractor, the driveway was the last step. I had 4 quotes come in and they were not the lowest price, but I spoke with the owner and they have been in business for 23 years. They gave my project the time it needed to make sure every aspect from the curbs to the drainage were done correctly. We will have this driveway for the rest of my lifetime and I am glad we chose Concrete Solutions."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Three inches is a great thickness for a residential asphalt driveway that sees minimal to moderate traffic from cars, SUVs, and pickup trucks. However, a thicker driveway can better withstand the weight of a heavier vehicle, such as a trailer or a recreational vehicle. If you drive a heavy vehicle on a thin driveway, you risk cracking and damaging it.

Recycled asphalt is not better than gravel, but can be a good alternative. It is inexpensive, but not as low-cost as gravel, and doesn’t tend to last as long. Recycled asphalt isn’t as dusty as gravel and is more environmentally friendly. The black look can be something that homeowners prefer. No matter what, ensure you choose an experienced recycled asphalt contractor.

The dimensions of a driveway apron vary based on local building codes, the width of your driveway, and the distance between the driveway and the road. On average, aprons range from 12 to 24 feet wide and 8 to 18 feet long. Typically, the end of the apron connected to the driveway matches its width—such as 10 to 12 feet for a single-car driveway—while the end at the street flares out to allow cars to turn in and out more easily. In some areas, you may not be responsible for the portion of the apron that extends beyond the sidewalk, but this depends on local laws.

The average cost of 1,500 square feet of asphalt ranges from about $10,500 to $22,500, depending on location, thickness, base material, and how accessible the job site is to crews and equipment. Keep in mind that your asphalt material cost may vary depending on its type, ranging from porous asphalt to heated blacktop. Standard asphalt costs $7 to $13 per square foot.

It’s best to weigh the pros and cons of each material and decide on your priorities for your driveway. Gravel won’t be an appropriate choice if your driveway experiences heavy traffic. You’ll find that you need to level and top it off regularly, which could make the material a much more expensive option.
