"Patterson painting recently completed painting the exterior of a duplex which is an occupied rental. The duplex was power washed and thoroughly prepped (loose paint , cracks, etc.). They respected and worked well with the tenants. I give them high grades, on professionalism, reliability and fair pricing. I would hire this company again."

"I had two companies came and provided me with two different opinions about the leak in my home. Each company overcharged me for the services provided and did not fix the issue. Chris and his wife came to my home yesterday. He thoroughly investigated the problem and was able to get to the bottom of it very quickly. He fixed the problem that could have cost me around $1K, as estimated by the other companies. He is a very professional and honest. He and his wife share their knowledge with clients to learn more about their issues. I give this company more than 5 stars. Very professional and honest. It is extremely hard to find these qualities these days."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Unless you’re using a 2-in-1 formula or painting over an existing coat of paint, it pays to apply a coat of primer ahead of your new paint. Decks see a lot of footfall and exposure to extreme and sudden temperature changes and moisture levels. The primer promotes better paint adhesion, moisture repellency, and a smoother finish, which means you’ll often need fewer coats of paint.

The best way to protect a deck is to prevent damage from UV light, water, mold, mildew, insects, and abrasive cleaning methods. Sweep regularly to prevent debris that hides bugs and traps moisture that can result in mold or mildew growth. Use a deck cleaner once a year to remove algae, mold, and mildew. Avoid using pressure washers on high, as they can damage the wood. Applying a deck sealant can protect the wood from UV and water damage, and adding shade can also reduce sunlight damage.

If you have wood decking, there are several common deck problems that you might encounter. For example, your natural wood boards may fade over time due to things like sunlight, weather, and debris. On top of that, some types of wood decking can rot, grow mold, and attract destructive pests—including termites, carpenter ants, and woodpeckers.

Exterior paints contain more volatile organic compounds, or VOCs, making them dangerous when used indoors. Without the free ventilation of the great outdoors, it can take longer for the fumes to dissipate than interior paint. While you may notice the smell lessening more quickly, you should be wary of paint fumes inside for 48 to 72 hours after it dries.

Hot, intense sunshine can cause your stain to dry too quickly, which could lead it to look uneven or patchy. If you’re staining the deck during hotter months, it’s best to do it in the morning or evening once the wood has had time to cool down. If you’re staining in cooler weather with less sunshine, the time of day won’t make as much of a difference.
