"Very knowledgeable guy who seem to know what he’s doing. Don’t know results of spraying. Have had much rain since. Will have to see if it worked. Terminex will spray again the beginning of next month."

"Cori called within minutes of me placing the request and she and Tim were out the next day. They set traps, examined the exterior of the house for entry points and discovered I had an issue with the exterior of the house. After the repairs were complete, they came back to ensure that the house was sealed from rodents! I highly recommend them for any wildlife removal needs."

"I am very happy with Southern Pest. After having several other pest companies, including the well known ones come to my home and tell me I had no termites, I almost couldn't believe what they were saying. They hardly spent any time here and disregarded anything I had to say. Fortunately I found Tyler with Southern Pest and he took the time to listen to me and identified the problem. Not only did I have termites but the infestation was massive. They immediately took action and treated my home completely. If you ever have a problem don't waste your time with any other company. I am so grateful to have found Tyler and crew at Southern Pest. Not only are they knowledgeable but great guys as well."

Bird Control questions, answered by experts

Finding a dead bat in your home can be frightening, even during spooky season. The United States Department of Interior states that if you find a dead bat, take these steps:

  • Contact your state wildlife agency to report the finding

  • Photograph the bat safely to help the wildlife agency determine the species

  • Use disposable gloves to place the bat into a plastic bag, making sure to spray with disinfectant and close the bag securely

  • Thoroughly clean your hands and any clothing that came into contact with the bat

If you see one dead bat, you might have a large bat infestation that needs to be treated immediately. Call a local pest control company to properly inspect your home for other bats.

To keep animals out, you must prevent them from entering. As long as they can get in, the problem will persist. That said, consider making your attic less inviting using deterrents like motion-activated lights or ultrasonic devices. Additionally, keeping a well-maintained, clean, and uncluttered attic that you regularly inspect for activity may make the space less attractive to critters.

DIY removal of birds or bats is not recommended due to safety risks and potential legal protections for certain species. While simple prevention methods can be done yourself, actual removal and control of an infestation should be handled by professionals who are familiar with safe, humane, and effective techniques.

If you’ve had a prior bat infestation or simply want to avoid having bats invade your home in the first place, there are a few steps you can take without the need for a pro.

  • Seal entry points, such as where your chimney meets your house, or other gaps or holes exist.

  • Use bat deterrents like bright lights or ultrasonic devices to force them away from your home.

  • Reduce bat attractions like standing water and bird nectar feeders inviting bats into your yard.

Small amounts of geese are actually good for the environment. They help spread seeds and lead to more plant growth, but they’re often an invasive species, particularly Canadian geese. This means a small gaggle can quickly grow into a level that litters your lawn with bald patches and excrement.
