"They service was performed on time and they did a very good job. Our carpets were embarassingly dirty and had needed to be done for some time. We had recently got a new puppy for our daughter and suffice it to say, he had plenty of accidents. There were tell tale stain marks all over the carpet that were in desperate need of cleaning.
They did a very thorough and professional job by paying particular attention to the stains, treating them and re-treating them as necessary. Since this is the original carpet that was built with the house in 1997 I did not expect any miracles, but my wife and I were really surprised at the results. We were so pleased, that we have vowed to maintain the carpets in their new state and I would definitely use Royal Chem-Dry again. "
"Leo showed up on time and all went well. He really did a great job cutting my bathroom door to size and installing the closet door so that both could clear the carpeting and close properly (which they hadn't before). He put framing around th a/c unit and it looks very nicely finished off now."
"George was extremely responsive, helpful and thorough. He thought of all contingencies, provided very good pricing and honest feedback. The project was cancelled but we will definitely go forward with George in the future. Will also recommend him without reservations."
"Emo and his crew did another fantastic job on my master bathroom, its the bathroom i always dreamed of. I am doing a total home remodeling and if i have found the right guys for the job everything has gone great never thought it would go so smoothly. stay tuned for the next installment."
"My project was a little complicated for me to figure out exactly who I needed to get the job done. I need flooring in my upstairs hallway to continue down the stairs. I also need a new stair railing to be built, but I wanted all the wood to be stained to match the floors. Since I was going to sub everything out myself I knew I needed at least two different contractors to get the job done. I shopped around for several months in the Palm Beach and the Broward County area, before settling with Mark from New Heritage Wood Floors. I was on Houzz.com trying to get ideas for my project when I saw a designer that recommend Mark's company for the wood floors that he had previously installed. It was a long shot, but I just happened to be in the area so I stop by his showroom. I didnt know it was by appointment only, but he was able to accommodate me. Please call first because hes a busy individual. Mind you I had already done my research; I showed him pics of my project, I drilled him with a lot of technical questions that I already knew the answer to, and he was the first person that I dealt with that I felt comfortable doing business with. Not only did Mark talk me down from a solid to a engineered wood flooring (which potentially saved me a lot headaches and $$$), he was very up front with the cost of the installation, and even broke it down into detail per sq ft including the price per stair treads before coming to the house to do the quote. Mark also recommended a custom stair railing company that he works with; I felt comfortable with them so I ended up contracting with them too. Im still waiting for them to do the install, so stand by for that review. I was very flexible with my schedule and was in no rush for them to do the install. It took them about a month and half to order the wood floors and stain the stair treads. When we finally came to a agreement on the date, it only took them two days to do the install. The guys showed up on time and they were very meticulous about every little detail. No shortcuts were taken and they even calulked all the stair treads and bullnose which I wasnt expecting for them to do. They were also very clean, professional, and courteous to keeping the door closed so my dogs wouldnt run out of the house. These guys did an awesome job and it was a pleasure to work with them. I will definitely call them again to install the wood floors in my bedrooms when Im ready. I cant say enough good thing about these guys. They werent cheapest flooring contractors that I got a quote from, but Im very happy with the work that they did. "
The answer depends on the size of the problem. If the carpet damage is small, then you or a pro can fix it with a carpet patch. This commonly includes things like burn marks from fireplaces or small holes from furniture snagging on it.
Other times, replacing the carpet rather than repairing it is best. For example, if you have large, worn sections, water damage, or can’t get rid of a strong odor, it may be time for a replacement. Carpet removal costs average $180 plus the cost of new carpet installation.
Carpet stretching can be a worthwhile investment to increase the lifespan of your carpet and eliminate unsightly wrinkles, ridges, and ripples. For an older carpet that is in relatively good condition aside from some wrinkling or bubbling, restretching can make it look like new and extend its life by at least a couple of years. You should consider restretching when you notice looseness or other related issues.
However, it's important to note that stretching will not fix issues like stains, wear in the pile, or discoloration. Consider replacing the carpet instead if the repair cost is more than 50% of the price of a new one. Additionally, if your carpet is past its expected lifespan of five to 15 years, or if it has been stretched multiple times already, replacement is likely a better option.
The correct method to fix bubbling carpet depends on the cause. If the bubbles are caused by moisture, drying out the carpet can help flatten it. Otherwise, a pro might need to restretch or reinstall the carpet to fix the issue.
While it may not always be ideal, you can fix a squeaky floorboard without removing the carpet. Pros use specialized carpet screws and drive them through the carpet into the subfloor, securing floorboards. They may also use nails instead of screws if they suspect the pile will get caught in the screw. While some types of carpet will hide the screws and nails, a low-pile carpet may not.
It is not recommended to install or stretch a carpet without a power stretcher. Skipping essential tools like a power stretcher and a knee kicker will likely result in an improper installation, leaving you with wrinkles, creases, and an unappealing final look. While a knee kicker can provide some limited stretching for thinner carpets, it is not a proper substitute. Attempting to stretch a carpet by hand or with homemade tools can also shorten its lifespan. For the best results, you should buy or rent a stretcher. If you do not want to use a stretcher, it is better to hire a professional for the installation.
