"The installer Anthony was Very Polite, cleaned the driveway off before sealing. Pulled a few weeds that were coming up through driveway and put a seamless coating down. Cleaned up everything and did a great job."

"Paul called within 2 hours of my post on Angi. He came out about 1/2 hour later and reviewed the work I needed done. He was friendly, professional, and explained what he would do and how it would be done. I got two estimates about 5 or 6 years ago and Paul’s was just a couple of hundred dollars higher. In addition, he proposed to hot tar the cracks in my existing driveway and seal coat the entire 1200 square foot driveway, which was not proposed previously. It was a no-brained. The work was completed promptly to my complete satisfaction. If you’re reading this post you should give them a call."

"They did a fantastic job for me. After speaking with them they came right out. Power washed, repaired, painted and sealed driveway and walk-ways. Power washed entire home, repaired and secured roof, painted shutters and trim around steps and doors. Trimmed the overgrown palm tree. Very professional and personable and great to work with. Received lots of compliments and would highly recommend them. Great job and many thanks."

"I had a really good experience with Hometown Contractors. Jordan was honest, professional, and actually took the time to explain everything in a way that made sense. I appreciated that he wasn?t trying to upsell me or push work that didn?t need to be done. The whole process felt straightforward and stress-free, and the quality of the work came out great. You can tell they actually care about doing the job the right way. I?d definitely recommend them and would use them again"

Driveway Sealcoating questions, answered by experts

Driveway sealcoating costs around $500 on average, or between $1.25 and $1.50 per square foot for materials and labor. Most homeowners pay between $250 and $800 for this service. Your project price will depend mostly on the size of your driveway, the type of sealant, how much pressure washing or treatment is required before sealing, and the number of coats of sealant applied to your driveway. Most sealants come in 5-gallon or 55-gallon units, with up to 500 square feet of coverage per 4 gallons.

If you don’t want to seal the entire driveway using a squeegee, you can use a roller instead. Rolling the driveway sealer also provides an even, sufficient coating, although it might require more skills to control the speed and pressure. We don’t recommend spraying the driveway sealer because it would cause more splash, hence wasting more material. If anything, you may spray the sealant and go over the surface again with a squeegee to ensure proper coating.

If your asphalt driveway shows cracks, potholes, or standing water, it’s likely time for a repair. Cracks, big or small, let water seep in, weakening the base and causing further damage. Potholes are a sign of this weakening process in action while standing water suggests your driveway has poor drainage, which can cause even more issues. You may also see warping or buckling—a sign of a compromised base layer—or sinking pavement. Spotting these signs early on can help you save yourself a bigger repair bill in the future.

Though they may look similar, tar and bitumen come from different sources. Bitumen is a petroleum product—extracted during crude oil refining—and is mostly made up of hydrocarbons. Tar comes from burning down organic materials like coal or wood. Bitumen is strictly oil-based, while tar is a mix of compounds from natural sources. Both are used as binders in paving; however, bitumen is the standard for today’s asphalt. Tar use has mostly faded out of road construction.

Every 2-3 years, depending on climate and usage, to protect against weathering and cracking.
