"Great customer service, we were in a very tight time crunch and he actually came out the same evening we called just to make sure we got our inspection done in time. Very thorough and took the time to go over everything with us in detail and answer any questions."

"They did an excellent job for a fair price. Used them years ago to replace my flat roof. I got 3 bids to replace the tile roof and theirs was very competitive and I had confidence from my previous experience. Owner is super responsive."

"I took a chance on someone I didnâ t know which is huge for me. They were prompt with their time, efficient, detailed. They didnâ t veer off the original estimate and delivered exactly what they promised. They guarantee that if something wasnâ t done right, theyâ ll come back and considering everything they did, only a couple of minor things were off; sure enough they came back out to correct the issue with no problems whatsoever. I will most certainly hire them again for future projects. A+"

"He did a good job installing the weather striping around the doors.  One door wasn't in the frame correctly and he fixed that.
They sent someone by to check on his work.  That guy talked to us about the air tightness of our home, which is great.  He kept trying to find something wrong.  It is a newer home.  He mentioned we should put energy film on one window.  I looked the film up online and found it at Home Depot.  He told us that they had to do it because "if one speck of dust is on the film" it will compromise the integrity.  One speck of dust? This isn't an ER or clean room.  He was really pushing to try and sell something else.
Because of the salesman that came 'to make sure the door work was correct' is why we won't use this company again.

nstalling ENERGY STAR qualified windows, doors, and skylights lowers energy bills and saves you money. With more efficient windows, you also use less energy, which reduces greenhouse gas emissions from power plants.
Put an end to cold drafts and overheated spaces. ENERGY STAR qualified windows and doors keep your home’s temperature consistently comfortable. Even your favorite chair right by the window can be cozy with ENERGY STAR!
Do some of your rooms feel like a sauna in the summer? A standard double-pane window allows approximately 75 percent of the sun’s heat into your home. 1 With ENERGY STAR qualified windows you can stay cool all summer long. Most ENERGY STAR qualified windows reduce the “heat gain” into your home more than typical windows do, without reducing the visible light. You get the light you need without the uncomfortable heat.

Lead Testing and Removal questions, answered by experts

Structural problems with the foundation or roof, water damage, and significant plumbing or electrical issues are all considered major red flags in a home inspection. Of these, a structural problem related to the foundation is often the most severe. Foundation repairs are typically the most expensive and intrusive to carry out, averaging around $5,000 but sometimes reaching up to $16,000. Because these problems can pose safety risks and be costly to fix, you should ask your inspector detailed questions about any identified issues. You will need to carefully consider how major problems affect what you’re willing to pay for the home, or if you want to proceed with the sale at all.

You should ask a few questions to ensure that your potential lead removal professional is experienced and qualified to handle lead-paint abatement safely, legally, and properly.

  • What are your qualifications and experience removing lead-based paint?

  • Are you licensed and certified to remove lead-based paint?

  • How do you test for lead paint?

  • What methods do you use for lead-based paint abatement?

  • What do you plan to do with the hazardous material when you remove it from the home?

  • Do you do replacement and painting work or removal only?

Iron sediments from rusty pipes are not likely to cause health problems. While a glass of yellow-hued water is off-putting, it is generally safe to drink yellow water in the short term. But you certainly want to address this problem. In the meantime, switching to bottled water until the yellow water issue is resolved is a good idea.

While not all homes built before 1978 contain lead paint, enough do, so you’ll still want to test to be on the safe side. The federal government banned lead-based paint for homes in 1978, but your state may have banned lead before that time. Around 24% of homes built between 1960 and 1977 contained lead-based paint, while 87% of homes built before 1940 contained lead-based paint.

Lead toxicity comes from inhaling lead or consuming it. Before the 1980s, when the government banned lead from consumer use, it could be found in paint, plumbing, pipes, ceramics, and even gasoline. Lead paint is toxic for the same reason lead itself is toxic, which is why lead poisoning from paint presents the same as lead poisoning from water or food sources, with a slight increase in respiratory symptoms vs. digestive symptoms. Lead paint is most dangerous when it’s old and peeling, cracking, or otherwise disturbed. This increases the concentration in the air and, therefore, in breathable air.
