"Very professional service. Arrived on time and worked diligently to address the carpet stretching and cleaning throughout the house. I have wall to wall carpets, and the job required lots of stretching and cleaning. Travis was very friendly and did a great job. I will definitely use and recommend C & C Carpet Care in the future."

"I am a general contractor up north visiting family and I am beyond satisfied with DSV. I was under a tight time constraint for getting this floor done. Rick was able to get the flooring material expedited and personally delivered within 2 days! The installer was professional and his experience really shined through his attention to detail between leveling the floor, installing the base + shoe and covering steps./transfers. Our new floor looks amazing and my family is thrilled with the look and feel. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for flooring and will be using them again in the future."

"

Andy and his partner came in after another installer left me high and dry - walked out after taking more than a month to lay about 600 sq ft of flooring and didn't even finish.  Handy Andy fixed the BAD job the other installer did and finished the 1/2 done room and hallway. And then removed the carpets, baseboards and shoe in my master bed and bath, levelled the sub floor and laid over 800 sq ft of new floors, installed new baseboards and shoe all in 2.5 days!!!  And a beautiful job it was indeed!!!!  Almost a  year later its still beautiful!!

We would definitely recommend this company and use them again.  I actually found Handy Andy Custom Wood Flooring by calling a bunch of wood flooring sellers in Jacksonville seeking a recommended installer. They were recommended by more than a few as the best they had on file!!!

Carpet Stretching questions, answered by experts

Deciding whether to clean or replace your carpet depends on its condition and age. If cleaning no longer resolves issues, it's time to consider a replacement. Key signs that you need to replace your carpet include:

  • Stains that are impossible to remove.

  • A persistent smell that lingers even after cleaning.

  • An increase in allergy symptoms.

  • The age of the carpet. Most manufacturers state that carpets should last about 10 years with proper care.

When cleaning is no longer effective, you should replace the carpet with a new one or consider other flooring options like vinyl or laminate.

Carpet tiles are less expensive than traditional carpet. The average cost of carpet installation is $1,800, or $3 to $11 per square foot. In comparison, carpet tiles cost $2.50 to $11 apiece and can often be bought in bulk cartons. Since you can more easily DIY carpet tiles, you may be able to save on installation costs, too.

When deciding whether to repair or replace your carpet, consider its age, the extent of the damage, and its location. It's often best to replace the entire carpet if the damage is extensive, such as large sections needing replacement, or if it's caused by water, which can lead to mold problems. Similarly, if your carpet is nearing a decade old, replacement is likely the more logical choice. On the other hand, consider repairing your carpet if the damage is localized to one spot, like minor rips or snags, the carpet is still relatively new, or the damage is in a low-traffic area of your home.

Generally speaking, restretch your carpets once every five years, though this timeframe depends on a number of factors, such as the level of foot traffic in the area. If the carpet looks wrinkled and there are loosened areas on the floor, go for the restretch. If everything looks and feels fine, you are good.

No, it works best under synthetic carpets in high-traffic or moisture-prone areas. Avoid using moisture barrier padding under natural fiber carpets like wool, which need air circulation. The barrier can trap the moisture against natural fibers and cause problems. Also, you can skip it in low-risk areas like upstairs guest bedrooms, where the extra protection often isn't worth the added cost.
