"I’m very pleased with the professional work by a licensed, certified arborist from Florida Foliage of Central Florida. We have an oak tree and a magnolia out front, an overgrown hedge on the side, and a huge magnolia in back. All are about 12 years old and have never been trimmed. These guys know their stuff, and the work was completed quickly. They have a truck with a claw that will come and pick up the pile of branches and leaves in the pile next to the street. Thank You!"

"Working with this team on both a boat dock inside the home project, I found them extremely professional from the office staff/ workers project leader. They took all the time I needed to fully explain my ideas and then they made several additional recommendations (not in a pushy way) to consider to help ensure the final project was all that I expected. As the project progressed I always felt I was being updated and fully understanding each step. In many projects, unexpected issues sometimes arise but Richard took the time to explain them and let me so I could make any changes I felt were needed or could wait until another project. In the end, everything was far beyond my expectations and within budget. I fully plan to use them again have highly recommended them to all my friends and to you this review reader also."

"The job has been executed as agreed. They have equipment that allow them to do a lot. In the process, they broke a 2 years old tree that we planted, and gouged in the grass with the bucket lift. They have replaced the tree with one nicer than the original, and they put down sod to patch the damage. This is commendable, as they fixed the issues in less than 48hrs. By the way, when you call them, they answer you. How great this is, compare to others."

"I just started with this company. I cannot at this time comment on their work. Tech was very friendly. Listened to my lawn problems and explained what would be done to get my lawn to look better."

"Alex and his crew at Property Care of Volusia did an outstanding job removing a large oak tree from our property. The whole process was handled safely, professionally, and efficiently from start to finish. They showed up on time, worked hard, cleaned everything up afterward, and made what could’ve been a stressful project completely seamless. You can tell they’re experienced and take pride in their work. Highly recommend them for any tree or property work."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Salt, herbicide, light deprivation, boiling water, and burning can all help dissolve a tree stump. You can also bury the tree stump in soil or mulch to help it rot naturally. Killing a tree stump prevents future regrowth, but you may also remove it by digging it out or grinding it.

For Bradford pears, damage from storms is common, and if the trunk splits, it can pose a danger to people and surrounding structures. The best thing to do in that instance is to have the tree removed. If there’s only minor damage to the branches, pruning away the damaged parts is the first order of business. You may also want to consult a professional arborist to make sure the tree is healthy.

There are a few differences between tree guying and tree staking. Tree guying requires anchor stakes that are shorter and stronger than regular stakes and are driven deeper into the ground at an angle away from the tree. Tree staking uses longer stakes that are set parallel to the tree and are used for smaller trees. Consult a local tree professional to determine which method is best for your tree.

Any cutting of tree roots can hurt or kill a tree, which is why it's recommended you don’t do it unless the roots are damaging or invasive on a nearby structure like your home. You should never cut more than 15 percent of above-ground tree roots at one time. If you have any questions about cutting tree roots, contact your local arborist.

Late winter is ideal, but if you’re pruning apple trees in the spring, prune them as early as possible in the season. You want to ensure your tree is just creeping out of dormancy and hasn’t started pushing out new growth. If you prune your tree too late into spring, you generally won’t see results until the following year.

That said, there’s no pruning season for unhealthy growth. Remove dead, dying, or diseased branches as soon as you notice them, regardless of the time of year.
