"I hired this company to paint the outside of my house, and I’m really happy with the results. Communication was great; they kept in touch throughout the whole process. The paint quality and finish are excellent, my house looks like new. They finished on time and left everything clean. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for painting services, I’ll definitely hire them again!"

"Rodney did an outstanding job on the siding for the chimney on the back of my home. He really took the time to explain to me every step of the process and even educate/show me along the way. He was really efficient and his craftsmanship and attention to detail was awesome. More importantly he was quick to respond to any questions I had and always kept me updated on the job. His pricing was great and he was very trustworthy. I would hire him again easily !!!!!"

"Jose was very professional. He heard my immediate need and was able to fix my issue the same day I spoke with him. He took down my vertical blinds and put up my curtain rods and curtains on a Friday night before my dinner event on Saturday. He cleaned up after himself. I felt very safe while he was here and knew if I have additional projects I will call Jose at Pro Touch Property Solutions! I will recommend his company and services to anyone who is in need of assistance in home repairs/projects. THANK YOU JOSE! You are appreciated. PS…and it didn’t cost me an arm and a leg!"

Deck Staining FAQs, answered by experts

The best type of paint for concrete exterior surfaces like concrete porches, steps, or walkways is high-quality exterior-grade paint with strong weather resistance. Acrylic latex blends with tiny anti-slip particles will help create an anti-slip coating for your concrete porch. This type of paint will stand up best to the elements, especially rain, snow, and ice. An exterior epoxy will also help strengthen your concrete porch.

Staining a deck is typically less expensive upfront than painting. The cost to stain a deck professionally averages around $850, with most homeowners paying between $550 and $1,250, depending on the deck's size. A DIY staining project can cost less than $100. The cost to paint a deck ranges from $500 to $2,000. While the initial cost of staining is lower, it's important to consider long-term expenses. Paint can last up to 10 years, whereas stain needs to be reapplied every few years, which could lead to higher costs over time.

Whether to brush or roll stain on wood depends on the project and your preference. Brushing is ideal for smaller, intricate areas and offers more control over the application, ensuring thorough coverage and penetration into the wood's grain.

Conversely, rolling is efficient for more extensive, flat surfaces and can save time. However, it is not always the best fit for textured or uneven wood. Some projects may benefit from combining both methods, using a brush for detail work and a roller for broader areas. Ultimately, the choice between brushing and rolling depends on the specific requirements of your staining project.

You don’t necessarily have to remove all the old paint before repainting your deck, but it’s best to remove as much as possible to ensure a smooth and long-lasting finish. Prioritize scraping off loose, peeling, or flaking paint, and sand down rough areas to create a smooth surface for the new paint to bond with.

Ultimately, overapplication of stain can compromise the deck's appearance, durability, and longevity. It may result in an uneven finish, with excess stain pooling, dripping, or drying into thick patches. It can also obscure the wood's natural grain and texture, detracting from the desired aesthetic. Moreover, excessive staining may not fully penetrate the wood, leading to poor adhesion and premature wear. Additionally, thick layers of stain are prone to peeling, cracking, and blistering as they struggle to bond with the surface.
