"On Monday afternoon, Johnston came to our house for the throughout inspection. He noticed several things like the sagging roofline, damaged and curled shingles and some sort of water stains on the ceiling. After checking out everything, he sent me the price estimate which was quite costly. But when I had checked the quality of their materials and the working ability, I felt they definitely deserve it. Their services was totally values the money. I would certainly hire them for the next year."

"Very happy with RJ Painting. We have hired them 3 times in the last year - first for a full exterior and partial interior job, and then twice subsequently for specific interior rooms. Jim is fantastic at keeping the lines of communication open and is so easy to work with. His team is fast and efficient, and they produce high quality work. My wife and I consistently get compliments about their work. I would highly recommend them and absolutely intend to hire them again for any future painting needs."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Opt for an interior wood stain that is rated for your type of wood. Consider your personal style preferences as well as the overall use of the room when choosing a color. Remember, the color you see at the store may look different on your actual floors once applied. This is why if you have the chance, it’s helpful to test a few options on a scrap piece of wood in the room first. Once you narrow it down, you can test a small patch on an inconspicuous area in the room to see it on the actual floors.

It’s necessary for paint to completely dry before exposure to rain, and that drying time varies by the type of paint used. Oil-based paint takes 6 to 8 hours to dry on average, meaning that’s the minimum time needed between the last brush stroke and the first raindrop. Latex paint dries faster at around 1 hour, and acrylic paint is even quicker, usually drying in about 30 minutes. If rain is in the forecast, check the paint manufacturer's details before laying on a new coat.

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood to help prevent the boards from cracking. However, you must wait for the wood to dry out completely before applying any finish. Freshly treated wood can take weeks or even months to dry; a common recommendation is to wait three to six months. To check if the wood is ready, perform a simple water test: drip some water onto the surface. If the water beads up, the wood is still too wet and needs more time to dry. If the wood absorbs the water, it is dry enough to be painted or stained. You can proceed with building your deck or fence while the wood is still wet, but you will need to wait to apply the paint or stain.

You can apply stain over peeling stain, but it’s not a good idea. Your old stain will get in the way of your new stain bonding to the wood, so you’re likely going to see the same issue again shortly after application. Your best option is to sand off the old stain and clean the surface thoroughly before applying new stain.

Whitewashing isn’t permanent, but it can last for a long, long time. When you apply it correctly or have a seasoned pro whitewash your brick, whitewashing can last for 20 to 30 years or longer. Whitewash is very durable and typically requires little maintenance, making it a great project for most DIYers.
