"My wife and I purchased a home to be used seasonally in Port Orange Fl.  I was headed there to do some work on the inside of the house and I searched Angie's List for contractors that could do the external work that was needed.
I contacted Lasting Creations prior to my arrival in Florida and set a time to meet and review the needed repairs.  Jerry was easy to communicate with and understood exactly the scope of the work that I wanted done.  He provided a quote that I thought was reasonable and we agreed on terms.  When he told me the date on which he would begin, I explained to him that not only would I not be there while he did the work but for most of the time I would be out of the country and unable to be contacted. But his previous reviews were so good that I had every confidence that he would do a good job.  Jerry completed about 75% of the work prior to my leaving the country and during that time I received photos by text and email showing the progress.  Upon returning, I came to Florida to review the finished project and could not have been more pleased.  He met me at the house when I arrived and we reviewed the work.  It was exactly as I had asked and reflected the promise that he had made.
We intend to have further repairs made when we are there for the winter and I have already told Jerry that we will be contacting him for the needed work at that time.
Thanks to Angie's list for helping me find a reliable contractor.  Since I'm seasonal and new to the area, it was the perfect way to research and hire the needed skills and have the confidence to leave and have the work completed properly as agreed.

Barndominium Builders questions, answered by experts

Whether it is better to buy or build a chicken coop depends on your priorities, primarily cost versus time and effort. Building your own chicken coop can be significantly more budget-friendly, often costing about half as much as buying a pre-made one. If you have the time and skills, building a coop from scratch is the most economical option. However, if your time or skills are limited, buying a kit and hiring a handyperson to assemble it can be more cost-effective than hiring a carpenter to build a custom coop from scratch. If you want a perfectly constructed coop without sacrificing your own time and energy, buying one is the easiest choice.

The timeline to build your barn will depend on the barn type and the company you hire. A pole barn may take six weeks or so, while a traditionally framed or steel-framed barn can take four months or longer. Building a barndominium takes the longest because you are essentially building a new home. You can expect barndominiums to take six months or longer to build.

If you can’t repair and repurpose your shed, it might be possible to sell it, donate it, or salvage parts rather than them just ending up in a landfill. Professional junk removal services will advise you on what can and will be recycled. You may also want to keep some parts to upcycle them for other projects around your home. Turning planks from your memory-filled wooden shed into a coffee table or bed headboard is good for the environment and the soul.

You can use a variety of wood to build a barn door, but the most common options include 1-by boards and 2-by boards for the backing and the decorative boards on the front of the door. Softwoods like pine will save you some money and should hold up well, while hardwoods like maple and oak will stand up to more wear and tear. You could also build the backer out of plywood to minimize the cuts you need to make. Whatever you decide on, make sure the width of the wood is compatible with the mounting brackets you buy.

The maximum size of a tiny home you can move depends on your state transportation guidelines, but the rule of thumb is a maximum of 400 square feet. However, as long as it falls within the local limits for traveling on public roadways, you should be good to hit the road.
