"In January the HOA wanted to replace broken sidewalks by removing trees and/or roots that grew under the sidewalks and caused them to crack. The HOA came around and marked trees that should be removed but the HOA wanted the property owners to pay $750.00 per tree to have them removed. The contacted a company called CLEAN TREE to do the work. I said "yes" and on April 9th Clean Tree showed up and started cutting down my tree, which was so big they wanted $900.00 from me to do it. I asked if they would just trim another tree and they said yes for $150.00 more for a total of $1050.00. They deposited the checks on April 29th. I wrote out two checks totaling $1050.00. When they finished cutting the big tree they started to leave so I asked why and they said the truck was full and they would be back. I'm still waiting, it's now May 21st, for them to return. I contacted the HOA three different times to ask "what's going on?" and three times he said he would check on it and get back to me. I'm still waiting for the HOA to get back to me but now he's on three weeks vacation starting May 7th and Clean Tree is not working in the plat anymore. What ever you do, don't pay these guys until all the work is done."

A tree can grow back from its stump, but full regrowth is unlikely (especially for more stubborn conifer trees). Instead, trees are more likely to send up a number of shoots from the dead stump, which will try to develop into primary stems over time. In other words, it will start to look increasingly bushy.
