"After reading wonderful reviews we hired Perfect Closet and met Len. After speaking with him we expected nothing but excellence. It took a few weeks to get our doors ready and that was expected. I must say Len was extremely prompt and courteous each time he was here. The actual door craftsmanship was excellent. The installation was another story. For as skilled as he claimed to be the installation of the veneer finishes is certainly not what I was expecting. And surely not good after the job clean-up either. Len had to return one time to replace a --bubbled-- veneer piece and rather than replace the whole piece he just splice a new piece. Later we realized that 3 of the drawers and two of the door handles were drilled crooked and installed poorly. Again Len was called, and he returned to repair and had to make two new doors which took another two weeks or so. When he came to install the corrected items we had him replace the spliced veneer with the correct part. When he was finished mounting the doors he still did not drill and install the new knobs and handles whereupon I asked why he told me he was not drilling and mounting them and that I should do it. Why I asked, he said what if I screw it up again. Well is not that why I hired a --professional-- wood worker? Needless to say I did it and was not happy at all. We paid over $7000 for this job expecting super quality workmanship. Not excuses and DYI. Again the doors were made beautifully but the quality ends there."

"They made and kept their commitment and the schedule proposed. Initially they answered my request quickly (hours). I had called other contractors who kept promising a quote and still didn't deliver in a 3-4 week period. I was very satisfied. I will definitely use them again. Thank-you."

Closets questions, answered by experts

Clean regularly, avoid overloading shelves, and check hardware for wear to ensure longevity.

A standard walk-in closet has dimensions of 7 feet by 10 feet at a minimum and an average of 100 square feet. Remember that the dimensions of the closet aren’t necessarily the usable space. This means that a 100-square-foot walk-in closet with shelves on each wall and an island may only have a walkable area of 50 square feet or less. Make sure you consider the effect of additions when you plan the room—mockups are a great idea.

DIY is possible for basic designs. Professional services ensure proper construction and space optimization.

The vertical space between closet shelves depends on what you're storing. For clothing like shirts and sweaters, 10 to 12 inches is enough. Towels and linens need 12 to 15 inches, while tall storage bins may require 18 inches or more. Overcrowding your shelves can reduce accessibility and increase clutter, so be sure to leave breathing room for your items.

When storing your clothes long-term, first consider the container's breathability. While plastic bags, cardboard boxes, or vacuum sealing may be great options for short-term storage, they won’t help your clothes hold up in the long term. Breathable plastic boxes and fabric bags help with airflow, prevent mold or mildew from building up, and allow proper airflow.
