"We had water entering our home in our main bedroom and closet when it rained. Lux came in and had to dig another French drain and seal the outside of our home and create another place for the water to drain away from our home. They did a great job, but our situation was so bad, they had to come back out and add more to seal the home and also removed dirt and replaced it with sand to help drain the water from around the home. All the work they did when they came back was included in the warranty they gave us with the original quote. They also came back quickly after our call and have done an excellent job."

"The work is alright, but I don’t know about the quality product.Ever since we’ve had it, the water quality doesn’t seem right. The water stings our eyes, it smells, and laundry won’t lather up. It doesn’t seem to work like it supposed to. We have been using their services for 5-7 years. They installed the system initially. They have been really good about servicing our home, but I don’t know. The company is very responsive and does what we ask. They are a little expensive. My only complaint is that they do not notify you when it is time to do the annual checkup so it expires and then we have to pay extra. This has happened almost every year. This year, I asked them to notify us beforehand and they did this year."

"Overall, I am very satisfied with the work performed by Frank and his crew but I do have a few comments regarding managed expectations.
The contract specified that the estimated duration of the job would be 2-3 weeks.  I don?t recall the exact start but the end date was March 23rd.  Longer than 3 weeks.  Much of the delay was due to inclement weather.  This is where managed expectations came into play.  My expectation was that if the sun was shining, they would be working, but that was not the case.  With the exception of the last weekend of the job, they did not work weekends.  One week it rained Monday-Thursday.  On Friday, they worked until 3pm and returned Monday.  One worker said Frank didn?t want to pay overtime for weekend work.  I
got that.  Just don?t expect to see guys working on the weekend.

They did a good job of trying to protect plants around the house, but the weight of falling shingles will cause some damage.  We do not have elaborate landscaping so the fix was relatively minor, but if you have invested a lot in your plants, it?s something to consider.
The roof replacement was precipitated by a leak in the bedroom.  The original roof was 15 years old and starting to fail.  They
removed the old roof and applied the water barrier before leaving on Friday afternoon.  Ron assured me the roof was
?dried in.?  Well, big rain came on Saturday and I had a massive amount of water inside the bedroom.  Obviously, the roof was not water-tight.  I called Ron but there was little he could do; it was the weekend.
I have not received my adjusted insurance premiums yet, but the value of the house increased $30K.  This increase should make my premiums go up.  I will be interested to see how my premiums will be affected based on the durability of the roof, which should make premiums go down.
It is late May and I have not turned on the AC yet.  I can definitely tell a difference in the inside temperature.  I downloaded
a graph from my electricity provider comparing my energy usage year-over-year for March-May 2013 and 2014.  The graph
clearly shows that while the average daily temperature was HIGHER in 2014, the kilowatt hours was LOWER.  The energy
saving are real!  I chose a white roof to maximize reflectivity.

UPDATE:  I received my new annual insurance premium - A 35% decrease!  Since the work was completed, I have had two sub-contractors out to do various work.  Both have made favorable comments regarding the roof.  The gutter man said in this 13 years of installing gutters, he has never seen such high-quality workmanship.  Solarshield says their installers are metal craftsman.  I guess this is not just hype."
All of the doors and windows were replaced by National HomeCraft.

"When i called we discussed what I was looking for. He explained I needed to look at a place that sells mobile home items such as for the tub so it would fit correctly. Saving me a HUGE headache! Whenever I had a question he had no problem answering it. On our agreed upon date for installation he arrived early and immediately began working. He widen areas and removed and replace tub, shower, cabinets and other misc items. He was there for 4 days and each day he would leave the rooms picked up. I am very pleased with the outcome it is exactly as we discussed...beautiful and functional! And he even do a couple of little extra things such as fixed my leaky faucet for no additional charge! Hard to find such service anymore! He was friendly and took pride in his work. I would highly recommend this company to anyone needing home improvements.

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, frozen pipes can prevent a toilet from working correctly. If the pipes are frozen, water cannot flow, which means your toilet tank won't be able to refill after a flush. This will prevent the toilet from flushing again. Depending on which lines are frozen, the ice can also block the drain pipe, preventing water from flushing away.

As a temporary workaround, you can manually add water to the tank for each flush. To clear a frozen drain pipe, you can try filling the toilet bowl or tank with warm water and flushing to help thaw the ice. However, the best long-term solution is to unfreeze the pipes to get your toilet back in working order.

A bit of water in the bowl can help unclog a toilet, especially if you're using a plunger. However, if the bowl is full to the brim, you'll need to strap on gloves and remove some of the wastewater in a cup or container so it doesn't overflow when you try to unblock the pipe. If you're concerned about it filling further, manually close the flapper in the toilet tank or turn off the water supply to the toilet.

Never pour used motor oil down the drain. Doing so can have serious environmental consequences, including contaminating groundwater, endangering animals, and killing vegetation. It can also clog your pipes, causing backups in your plumbing or the wastewater treatment plant. In most places, pouring motor oil down the drain is illegal, whether you do it in your home or a storm drain.

Bleach is generally not recommended for your shower drains. Although diluted bleach can technically help clean your drain, it will not unclog your pipes. In fact, bleach can harm your plumbing system because it’s so powerful. The bleach can change the color of your sink and even corrode metal pipes and fittings.

Often, people reach for bleach because it's already in their house. But it's worth getting a plunger or a drain snake for the job instead. It'll be a lot less money to buy a new plunger than to pay a plumber to repair or replace damaged pipes.

While some chemical drain cleaners with hydrochloric acid can dissolve hair, this method is not recommended as it can also destroy your plumbing pipes. A common DIY alternative is using baking soda and vinegar, which can help break down the clog but will not actually dissolve the hair. The best and safest method for clearing a hair clog is to remove it manually. You can use a drain snake, a straightened wire hanger with pliers to fish out the clog, or have a plumber use a professional auger for more severe blockages.
