"I am writing this review for my grandmother who had her yard cleaned up by custom John's , and when I say cleaned up I mean half a dozen or large truckloads of biomaterial taken away. I have worked with her on her yard for years, barely keeping her hedges, palms, trees, fern's, flowers, and weeds under control, trust me when I say her yard is a veritable jungle. She finally had enough and wanted it all cut back, about to what it looked like when she first moved in over 20 years ago. I didn't think anyone would be able to cut away so much growth without it looking like a butcher job, but John's team took a mature garden and shaped it so beautifully that it looked like a fresh landscaping job for a new house. Every shrub and palm shaped excellently, every tree well pruned, every weed taken out, and liner put in throughout. The job took well over a week to cut through overgrown mass and turn into a work of art. By the end of it, no part of the yard suffered in quality, it was thorough throughout, and custom tailored to my grandmother's vision. While at first I didn't think the work would be worth the quoted amount, I can say I was pleasantly surprised and can now say it was worth every penny. Both she and I highly recommend John's service."

"We’re beyond grateful for Lance and the incredible team at LRN Services. They transformed our one-acre lot—removing dense, overgrown azalea bushes and several trees, hauling in fresh dirt, and meticulously raking and leveling the entire area to prepare it for sod. The quality of their work was outstanding, and the pricing was more than fair. But what truly sets Lance apart is his genuine care and commitment to your project—he treats it like it’s his own. We wouldn’t hesitate to hire LRN Services again, and we wholeheartedly recommend them for any land clearing or property prep you have in mind."

"We secured several estimates to remove our existing “lawn” and replace with zoysia sod; and create two flower beds. Matt’s estimate was the most competitive. Throughout the project his knowledge and experience in landscaping became more apparent. He was attentive to our ideas and combined his creative skills to design two well thought out and unique flower beds. His varied and low maintenance selections will provide color and textures throughout the seasons. It’s been three months and some harsh temperatures and we are excited to see things blooming. Matt transformed our front yard from weed violation status to a show stopping envy of the neighborhood. We can’t wait to have him create our backyard oasis."

"This is my second time working with Chad. I’ve had some challenges getting the sod that was laid down several years ago (by another company) completely healthy, and Chad is very knowledgeable about the particular needs of grass to get it healthy. When I get around to putting grass down in my front yard I wouldn’t hesitate to use Chad again."

"IMPERIAL LANDSCAPING CONCEPTS was my chosen landscaping company to design and deliver an appropriate stylistic landscape redesigned to enhance the road appeal of our home. I was impressed by the level of professionalism displayed by Imperial Landscaping Concepts beginning with the face-to-face meetings with the owner, landscaping architecture designer and project manager. Imperial Landscaping Concepts discussed each phase of my project with me to ensure the ideas and inspiration were understood while establishing a realistic timeline. To my surprise, Imperial Landscaping Concepts has developed over the years a one-stop-shop, which includes a network skilled craftsman who are personally engaged in the overall success of reaching the end vision of the design. Throughout the project, Imperial Landscaping Concepts retained my trust and confidence based upon the quality work ethic demonstrated along with their attention to the details. Imperial Landscaping Concepts provided all services required to complete my project, to include; the demolition and removal of the old walkway, stone design/color for paver walkways, patio, retaining walls and flower beds, the redesign and expansion of the irrigation system, electrical work for the installation of the ground lighting, and the skillful selection of indigenous flowering plants, shrubs and trees creating the vision of an English Gardens. Imperial Landscaping Concepts has transformed my yard into a neighborhood showplace. Imperial Landscaping Concepts has proven their quality performance while remaining grounded in good business practices. I highly recommended Imperial Landscaping Concepts for residential of commercial properties seeking the array of services provided by Imperial Landscaping Concepts. The cost to reseed or overseed a lawn is about $1,050 on average, ranging from $450 to $1,700, depending on lawn size, seed type, and location. Popular seed types for residential lawns include bahia, fescue, and Bermuda. Keep in mind that it costs $0.10 to $0.20 per square foot to seed or overseed a lawn. Additional cost factors may include:
Fertilization: $80–$400
Soil testing: $700–$2,100
Yard cleanup and leaf removal: $200–$560
Treating weeds: $110–$325
Mowing: $50–$210
On average, the cost of lawn fertilization is $250, ranging from $80 to $400, depending on the size of the lawn, its current condition, additional treatments, number of applications, fertilizer type, and location. Keep in mind that labor, tools, and equipment make up 80% to 90% of the total cost of lawn fertilization. Additional lawn treatment options include:
Lime treatment: $100–$150 per 1,000 square feet
Crabgrass treatment: $30–$80
Grub treatment: $30–$80
Mulching: $150–$400
Dethatching: $265–$295
Landscapers typically charge $25 to $50 per person per hour, which equals around $50 to $100 per hour for a two-person crew. These rates can vary depending on your location, the size of staff needed for the job, and overall job type. For example, a larger crew will be needed for structural additions and hardscaping versus planting flowers.
When it comes to landscapers, licensing laws vary. Landscaping architects are required to be licensed in all 50 states, whereas traditional landscaping contractors are not typically required to hold a certification. You’ll likely be working with a landscaping contractor for most residential projects. If you are redesigning your whole yard or adding in hardscape features, you will work with a landscaping architect at some point during the project. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local landscaper guidelines.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
Landscaping costs around $3,500 but varies widely from $200 to $14,000. Factors that play a part in your final landscaping price tag include:
Location
Yard size
Project size
Materials
Land preparation
Type of landscaping
Considering so many factors, it’s not surprising that the overall costs can differ. A typical landscaping project is flower bed installation, which averages between $800 and $3,000. However, landscape lighting installation is a higher-end project, with a price tag of $2,000 to $6,000.
