"Hired to stain the wood columns and trim on our house. Price was fair, showed up on time, kept a clean work space, was professional and the work turned out great. Would rehire for future home repair or paint needs!"

"Paul and Chris did and an amazing job! I don't think it has ever looked so clean! It went from black stains everywhere to a whole new bright shade of white! I didn't know my driveway was that color underneath!"

"Getting our new house painted was the first step into making it our home. Luke was very quick to respond when we reached out. We had a couple delays on our end and he was very accommodating. He got the work done in a timely manner. He takes directions very well, he’s professional, clean and on time. He made sure we were satisfied with everything throughout the process. I couldn’t be happier with the work that was done!"

"Excellent job! Done on time with quality work even though they had to cut through an exterior concrete block wall and had little crawl space. Keith is good at thinking through details and saved me a bunch of money. Highly recommended!"

"We had a lot of rotten boards on our deck and a large section by the pool that was beyond repair. Mike did a great job replacing rotten boards and completely redoing the section by the pool including replacing the trusses. We are very happy with how everything turned out."

Small jobs welcome

"Henry did an OUTSTANDING job of hanging my outdoor Christmas lights, and he did it in a matter of hours not days!!! Last year I hired a reputable local company who sent out two supposed lighting professionals, and they were here for three days and the lighting job was a total DISASTER!!! I am so impressed with this young man, and I ve hired him to hang my lights annually for as long as he is in the business. In addition, I have hired him to pressure wash my home after the holidays. Henry is the professionals professional, and I hereby award him the highest rating possible five Christmas trees!!!"

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Yes, Ipe is more expensive than Trex decking—both in terms of materials and installation (plus, Ipe trees are endangered). On average, Ipe decking costs $10 to $25 per square foot, while Trex decking costs $5 to $12 per square foot. Because Ipe is harder to work with, the price of installation is higher, too. For Ipe decking, you’ll pay between $20 and $45 per square foot for labor. However, with Trex decking, the labor costs range from $8 to $22 per square foot.

Spindles on a deck may also be called balusters or pickets. While not as important to the structural support of the deck as the rail posts, they play a critical role in ensuring the deck is safe to use by closing in large gaps in the railing. For this reason, balusters must be no more than 4 inches away from one another.

Yes, you can draw your own deck plans in many cases. However, you must know your local building codes and be familiar with carpentry principles. Even then, it's always best to run your plans by a professional contractor with experience building decks, whether you choose to DIY some of the build or not.

The life expectancy of deck boards varies widely based on the material, climate, and maintenance. Untreated wood boards typically last 10 to 30 years with proper care, while pressure-treated boards can last up to 50 years. Hardwoods generally outlast softwoods. Composite boards also tend to last longer than natural wood. Environmental factors like arid or humid climates can shorten a deck's lifespan. To extend the life of wood decking, it's important to consistently clean and seal it to protect against moisture, UV light, and insects.

Both deck footings and deck posts help prop up your deck. However, footings are the bottommost parts of a deck that touch the ground. They’re usually made of concrete. Posts are pieces of wood that attach to the top of the footings with brackets. They run upwards and connect to the underside of your deck to support its weight.
