"What a great experience my family had with J & H Stoneworks! Not only was Jaime and his staff professional, they were able to assist us with transporting items in which others in his trade profession could not! We had spent countless hours contacting multitudes of companies to move a crate of heavy items and believed we had exhausted all our options and we were becoming discouraged. Some companies said they could move the items but in the end could not. We were discouraged until we spoke Jaime. Before he agreed to do the job, unlike other companies we contacted, he first took the time to go out to see what the job was to ensure he could accommodate us. J and H was a God-send to us. We were provided a fair cost for the move and within a few hours he worked with us to adjust his schedule to get everything moved and moved the next day! There were no issues on the day of the move. We could tell that he and his employees knew exactly what they were doing! I can not say enough about how much they helped my family resolve an issue we had been dealing with for several months. I recommend J & H to anyone who is looking for a professional, reliable, reasonably priced and personable company that knows how to get the job done. - Casandra Patterson"

"Well the work went alright but they didn't remove the old wood and door. He said just tip the garbage man extra and he'll probably take it away. Didn't work out. What got me though was he charged me an extra 5% for using a credit card which I think is excessive. The last contractor took credit cards and didn't charge me extra. I had already given Steve a deposit for this job though so I was kind of stuck."

"Realestate Restoration was hired for a total house remodel from top to bottom of a 2-story property. Not only did they perform the services up to standard, but they went above and beyond to make sure we were happy! The project was finished on time and their communication was great! I would highly recommend them!"

Basement Remodel questions, answered by experts

Efficient appliance positioning, optimizing existing plumbing, and sourcing energy-efficient materials reduce financial impact and increase sustainability.

Walkout basements cost more than other kinds of basements, and can also increase your risk of leaks as well as a loss of insulation, leading to higher heating and cooling costs. Improperly installed walkout basements may lead to structural issues with your foundation, so ensure you’re working with a contractor who has extensive experience with this kind of basement.

Yes, in most cases, finishing a basement is worth the cost. The project adds valuable, usable square footage to your home and typically provides a return on investment (ROI) of 70% to 75%. For example, an average basement refinishing project costing $32,000 could add between $22,400 and $24,000 to your property's value. The final value added depends on factors like your location, the quality of materials and workmanship, and the features you include, such as a living space, bedroom, or bathroom. To be officially counted in your home's total square footage, the finished space must comply with all local building codes, including requirements for points of egress. However, in areas prone to flooding, a finished basement might be seen as a liability by potential buyers and could potentially decrease your home's value.

There are several small, inexpensive upgrades you can make to upgrade your basement. Although you still need to adhere to building codes and obtain permits when necessary, you can complete small but mighty tasks like painting the masonry walls and installing entertainment devices to make the space more usable.

Yes, adding a walkout basement will usually bump up your property value. Most homeowners prefer walk out basements because the exposed wall that’s level with the ground provides more utility via a ground-level exterior entrance, and they can fit full windows, which adds natural light and ventilation to the basement area. The only exception might be in areas prone to tornadoes, as walkout basements aren’t as safe as regular basements during a tornado, particularly if they include large windows or glass sliding doors.
