"I wanted to replace my Bathfitter tub with a new shower. Mike Fehl from Jacuzzi Bath Remodel was extremely helpful in assisting me with the design. When it was ready Jean and Mynor came to do the installation. They were wonderful and did a superb job. I’m very happy with my new shower."

"Absolutely fantastic job in every respect. Take a look at pictures. John Villa and his team took a tired 2 bedroom beach condo and made it into a 1 bedroom masterpiece that rivals anything out there. This was a COMPLETE gut job and no easy feat. We did not have to hire a designer as John came up with great ideas and options for us. He brought up many things to consider that we would not have even thought of. These guys can do the impossible and get it right the first time. Attention to detail is the name of the game with Villas Remodeling. They don't cut corners or use inferior materials. Impeccable wood work, and the tile installation is flawless. John has the best dry wall guy that I have ever seen and made the old popcorn ceilings perfectly smooth. To give you some idea of the craftsmanship used, he sets the corner beads with a level. From custom cabinets to completely replacing the wiring, plumbing, air-conditioning ducts and soffits they did it all. The crew is well dressed, polite and professional. Even the condo management was impressed which is saying something. One great thing is that John is responsive. If you call him or send a text he will respond promptly if not on the spot. John or his brother Johnathan will visit the work site every day when work is in progress to make sure it is being done correctly and address any issues that might arise. He provides regular updates even if not asked. The best thing is that he is honest. This company is his baby and he takes pride in his work. It clearly shows ."

"Great Effort. Steve worked with me on price, and was there early and late to get things done, jumping to it when the inevitable monkey-wrenches occurred (remodeled both bathrooms in a house built in the 1950’s). I’ve got some pictures up—it’ll look even better as soon as I get the paint on the walls (I hadn’t settled on a color during the work). I’m very happy with my new bathrooms. Thanks Steve!"

"So my issue was that some tiles had to be replaced because of an issue with my bathroom tub spout that had caused some leaking to my downstairs neighbor. A plumber from a well known franchise company left me so devastated with a large square hole that he patched up with tape and told me you need to find someone to put the tiles back in. I immediately went to Angies List and after a few calls, I connected with Anthony from Tile Designs By Anthony. Anthony was very professional, and after just 1 phone call I felt like I knew Anthony from around the block. He immediately devised a plan with Justin the Tile Repair Guy. Justin arrived promptly and very professional. I am so happy with the work that Justin did that I highly recommend TILE DESIGNS BY ANTHONY. I am looking forward to working with TILE DESIGNS BY ANTHONY in the future as my wife and I are looking to remodel our condo."

Bathtub Replacement questions, answered by experts

The cost of installing a new bathtub is considerably more expensive than refinishing an existing one, so if you’re looking to upgrade your tub on a budget, you might be better off refinishing it for now. Additionally, if your tub has only minor damage, refinishing it will make it look new again without the extra demolition and time.

Different bathtub materials have various advantages and disadvantages. Cast iron and copper are considered the most durable materials because they are dense and resistant to damage from scratches or dents. However, cast-iron tubs are heavy, expensive, and may not be suitable for upper floors. Copper offers unique benefits but requires regular chemical treatment to prevent a patina from forming, making cast iron a less maintenance-intensive option. Porcelain is a good second choice for durability. For those on a budget, acrylic is a popular option, though it is less durable.

Adding a soaking tub can increase your return on investment (ROI) for a bathroom remodel, with many people recouping a 60% ROI when adding a soaking tub. To get the best value from installing a soaking tub, make sure that your floor plan allows the tub to act as a focal point in your bathroom, adding aesthetic value as well as being practical.

There are several ways to save money on a bathroom remodel through proper planning and savvy design strategies. To reduce costs, consider the following:

  • Purchase your own materials: Buy your own bathroom fixtures, hardware, and other materials to avoid contractor upcharges and delivery fees.

  • Shop smart for big-ticket items: Save on pricey items like tiles and tubs by shopping sales and at discount stores.

  • Avoid major layout changes: Keep plumbing in its current location. Opt to replace fixtures rather than moving them to avoid significant renovation work.

  • Focus on high-impact, low-cost updates: Make affordable but impactful smaller changes, such as upgrading hardware, installing new lighting, and adding stylish but economical accessories.

  • DIY where possible: Handle easier parts of the remodel yourself, like painting or installing light fixtures, to save on labor costs.

  • Time your remodel strategically: Consider remodeling in the spring, which tends to be a lower-demand time of year and may result in lower costs.

Alcove tubs come in fiberglass, acrylic, or enameled steel. Fiberglass is the most affordable but least durable, while acrylic is the highest-end and most durable (as long as you don’t go with a poor grade of acrylic, which will be prone to scratches). Enameled steel, where a steel tub is coated in a layer of porcelain, is a wallet-friendly middle ground. This material is highly durable but prone to chips.
