"Luminous Electric did some excellent work for me about a year ago. Once again the entire process from scheduling the appointment to completion of the work was perfect. I received a call about 20 minutes before Dan G. arrived so I was able to corral my dogs before he got here. Originally I had just scheduled replacement of a broken outlet but this morning my husband and I decided to have the other work done as well. I assumed I would get an estimate and would have to schedule another appointment to have the additional work done, but Dan G. was able to give me fair pricing and do the additional work immediately. This included him going to Home Depot and picking up the ceiling fan for me! By the end of the morning all the work was done. Dan G. was professional, courteous and friendly. I could not have asked for better service. Thanks, Dan G.!"

"Joe, the estimator was also the installer so there was no gap in communications between multiple people with the company and myself. Also the customer service follow up was great. Nikki was very polite and helpful in Energy Today winning the bid for all our electrical needs."

"Bolt Electric is a wonderful, professional, responsive, fair price company! You really couldn’t ask for a better company for electrical work! Called Bolt Electric number and thought I was calling a Clearwater location as I live in Seminole, FL, so I was surprised when I realized the electrician Zack had come from Sarasota, but I am within their service area. Zack said they work in Pinellas County all the time, very normal for them. Bolt Electric was great in all respect of scheduling and electrician was on time. Their pricing was better than the other two companies I requested quotes from and extreme professionalism when they came to my home. Greatly appreciated. Bolt was wonderful in sending electricians who put up with my year-old puppy who thought Zack was his new play toy and was very kind to put up with the puppy, while trying to preform electrical work. Only let puppy drive him crazy for a few minutes, but he was so kind to be so nice about Finn wanting to play with him. I don’t write a lot of reviews, because I don’t want to write something bad about a company. It seems so many want to hurt a company, when not necessary and I don’t write good ones unless company has been truly wonderful! Believe me Bolt Electric of Sarasota is a wonderful company because of their professionalism, expertise and great prices!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

It’s generally not recommended to run electric to a shed above ground, and you should instead run electric lines underground via a conduit. This job, like all electrical jobs, is best left to a pro, as they’ll need to ensure everything is installed safely and that they don’t run into any other utility lines underground.

Professional services ensure safe installations, reliable repairs, and compliance with codes emphasizing safety in electrical networks.

Yes. You should always turn off the power to the work area before beginning, use a voltage tester to ensure it’s off, and wear protective gear, such as insulated gloves or safety glasses, to prevent risk of injury. Proper wiring and grounding techniques are also necessary to make sure the job is done right the first time and won’t harm any future homeowners.

Yes, you can get shocked while using a multimeter if:

  • You touch the metal tip while testing a live current.

  • The meter isn’t properly rated for the voltage.

  • The meter picks up on transient voltage that’s above the range you’ve set.

  • The meter has defective parts.

You can prevent shock and personal injury by using a multimeter properly and maintaining your device.

If you’re unsure how to use a multimeter or want help with your project, contact a local electrician to get the job done.

The average radon mitigation system uses about 876 kWh of electricity per year, although the exact amount of electricity used will vary depending on the size of the radon fan. Once the system is installed, the annual increase to your energy bill could range from $30 to $300 per year, again depending on the size of the fan.
