"I moved into a relatively new home only to discover it had a serious insulation deficiency problem. I contacted several so call insulation contractors that did not have a clue until I found Prime Tyme. Javares inspected my home and made solid recommendations to upgrade my my attic insulation. I wish I could give him 6 stars out of 5. My new home is comfortable now and the difference is like night and day. Although he is very busy he made an effort to come by with his crew and take care of my needs on a on timely basis. He is a professional and conscientious contractor that will do a great job for you. Thanks Javares for a great job well done."

"Very responsive during the initial appointment including the day of installation. Both installers were very professional, allowed me to inspect the area, and cleaned up afterwards. I would definitely recommend Mid-America Insulation."

"They were a little late in arriving, but Kenny called and emailed me to let me know they would be late. Once the team arrived, they worked diligently in the heat, installing insulation in the attic space. They were thorough, very respectful, and cleaned up after the job was complete. I was very pleased with their work, their professionalism, and the results! Highly recommended!"

"Exceptional organization of high integrity. While committing all assets to the Hurricane Michael reconstruction effort NWFL Insulation was unwilling to compromise quality and effort to current customer base. The owner (Alex) personally followed up with us on site to ensure our project was completed properly. When the team was committed elsewhere Alex performed the work himself. Superior organization who care about the customers and the quality of work."

"Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

The amount of drywall you need for a 1,000-square-foot basement depends on the ceiling height, angles, number of doors and windows, and more. To find the wall square footage, multiply the width and height of each wall, minus any gaps from windows or doors, and add the totals together. You’ll also need enough drywood nails or screws to install the drywall correctly.

Drywall anchors won’t work on plaster. Instead, they will more than likely cause more damage and pull out the plaster. The best type of anchors to use on plaster walls are the ones that will bite into the surrounding area, such as molly bolts and toggle bolts. Masonry anchors with expanders on the sides also work for lighter pictures.

Vinegar and bleach are effective options for removing mold from drywall. Vinegar is a better choice if you have a smaller mold issue while bleach is best if you have a larger mold problem. If the area you're cleaning has limited ventilation, using vinegar would be a better option. In that case, you could mix vinegar with baking soda to remove more stubborn mold growth.

You can usually tell if you have plaster or drywall by touch (plaster is harder, colder, and smoother than drywall) or by tapping on it (drywall sounds hollow, plaster does not). If you still cannot tell, peek under an outlet cover and check the cut edges. The rough edges show the composition of the wall. You will see either drywall (two paper sheets sandwiching gypsum material) or only plaster material (no paper sheets).

Yes, you can speed up the time it takes for plaster to dry, but it's important to do so carefully to avoid issues like cracking or crumbling. Proper ventilation is key; open a window or use a fan to circulate air in the room. Heat can also accelerate drying, but be cautious, as too much heat can cause the plaster to dry too quickly and crack. Check the plaster's packaging for the recommended drying temperature and set the room's thermostat accordingly. While managing humidity is important, avoid using a dehumidifier, which can remove moisture too aggressively and result in crumbly plaster.
