"It was a pleasure working with Mr. Shapiro and his Staff. They were professional, reliable and to my surprise compassionate to my situation. After, my father had an accident in the tub, it became necessary to have the bathroom remodel to handicapped standards to prevent future accident. Mr. Shapiro was very compassionate in not only handling my fathers needs but also completing the job in a timely manner so that it will not inconvenience my father for too long. In less than 3 weeks the job was completed , just in time for my Dad to celebrate Christmas in his apartment. The work done was beautiful and although, there were minor setback Mr. Shapiro handle the situation in a responsible and professional manner. In the future, I will need to remodel my brothers apartment and I will not hesitate to call on Mr. Shapiro again. I look forward to working with his company SBS again. Thank you so much."

Asbestos Removal questions, answered by experts

If you suspect exposure to asbestos, prioritize seeking medical advice by informing your healthcare provider about the potential exposure with clear details about the circumstances that led to the exposure. Regular health check-ups and screenings if you work in high-risk industries or live in a home with asbestos are essential for early detection of any asbestos-related conditions. You should also consider consulting occupational health experts or legal professionals for guidance on potential next steps and preventive measures.

Whether or not to buy a home containing asbestos is ultimately a decision for the homebuyer, and there are several things to consider. When in good condition and contained, asbestos is unlikely to present a health risk—it’s when those tiny fibers are loose and airborne that they become a problem. Consider any renovations you plan on doing to the home that could disturb existing asbestos and the cost of removal. If an inspection finds asbestos in a home on the market, you could negotiate with the seller for a lower price, though this isn’t a sure thing.

Walking on an asbestos roof can pose a risk. Asbestos roofing materials can become brittle over time, increasing the chances of them breaking or releasing fibers when stepped on. Additionally, walking on an asbestos roof without proper precautions can cause further damage to the material. If possible, avoid touching an asbestos roof in any way and consult with a professional about removing and replacing the roof.

Epoxying over asbestos tiles is generally considered a safe option when done correctly. Epoxy acts as a sealant, encapsulating the asbestos tiles and preventing the release of asbestos fibers into the air. The key is ensuring that the asbestos tiles are in good condition, firmly adhered to the substrate, and not damaged or deteriorating. This method is only appropriate for tiles that are undamaged and securely in place. If the asbestos tiles are already loose, damaged, or deteriorating, encapsulating them with epoxy may not be a sufficient solution, as it might not address the potential for ongoing asbestos exposure.

If asbestos is found, it is crucial to consult with a professional. They will provide recommendations for appropriate abatement actions, which may include safe removal, containment, sealing, or enclosure. All actions must be planned and executed in accordance with local regulations for handling asbestos.
