"Our large backyard backs up to a nature preserve. It was very important that our landscaping work together with the backdrop of the nature preserve. We also wanted to 'open up' our views into the nature preserve. Shelley's design was perfect, and her crew worked tirelessly for several days to reconfigure planting beds and install plants. We will engage Butterflies are Free to do maintenance on the completed work. We will also supplement this review with photos once plants are well established and in full bloom. We highly recommend Butterflies are Free."

"I have used them twice before. Their service is excellent. They are prompt and reasonably priced. They are very courteous and I know that they do not overcharge. I will continue to use them for all my sprinkler needs."

"Our pool was just completed and it is fantastic. The project was not without incident, but everything was handled expeditiously and professionally. Steve, the owner is honest and fair! Omar, our project manager was excellent at keeping us informed of progress every step of the way. He would call us regularly to update us on the status. He would tell us what had been done and how each process went as well as what the next steps were. Anif, the foreman on the job, built our pool as if it were his own. Once it was filled with water, he brushed and cleaned it with such care, as if it were his newborn baby! We are thrilled. :-)"

"Absolutely the best around. I had 4 weeks of nothing but issues with a company which resulted in me firing them. I hired Calvins irrigation and handyman service who came in and fixed all the lines and shotty work the previous company did. even went out of his way to repair my drive way pavers that the previous company left in disarray. I hadnt had sprinklers in 3 years and he was able to get everything up and running perfectly in 2 visits. He is very fair with pricing and the work is definitely worth the money! He is very professional, down to earth and personable. I will definitely be hiring calvins irrigation and handyman service again for my furture needs!"

Fountains questions, answered by experts

You have several options for your pond by getting your yard ready for the winter. You can winterize your koi pond by ensuring it’s at least 5 feet deep so it doesn’t freeze completely, installing a pond heater or aerator and having it run at all times, and installing a deicer if temperatures are dangerously low for an extended period. You can also choose to shut down your pond for the winter by removing all the wildlife in it and bringing it indoors, cleaning out the filter and pump, and then covering the pond with a tarp.

Deep clean your koi pond at least once a year to keep your fish healthy and your pond in good shape. Water testing, debris removal, and partial water changes should be performed weekly. Seasonal professional service will ensure everything is clean and functioning properly.

Algae growth is a common issue for misters, but you can do several things to prevent it. First, use a sealed water tank with distilled or filtered water to fuel your misters. Second, blow out the misters after every use so no water is left in the tubing. Third, thoroughly clean the misting system every several weeks of use at minimum during the warmest months. Third, wherever possible positioning tubing and the water tank away from direct sunlight and in the coolest areas possible.

One of the most important parts of building a pond is digging the right depth. Your pond needs to be at least one to two feet deep. The specifics of the depth will depend on factors such as the placement of the pond and whether you plan on having fish. If you have fish in your pond, it will need to be at least two feet deep.

A koi pond should be at least 5 feet deep to keep the fish healthy and ensure they don’t freeze in winter. Koi fish are also known for growing large, so the more room you have, the better. A larger koi pond size will allow the fish to grow bigger than a smaller one will, and the more fish you have, the bigger the pond you’ll need. Learn how to build a pond in your backyard to ensure it remains functional and aesthetically pleasing for a long time.
