"I needed a contractor to wallpaper one wall in our daughter's house. Within minutes of posting my request on Angi - Eloi Wallcovering called me. Matt Gupton arranged to come on Saturday to give me an estimate since I was only visiting for a few days. Matt came and decided to rearrange his personal schedule to work on Saturday and Sunday since I would be leaving on Monday. I highly recommend Matt, and you can reach him at EloiWallcovering.com or 904-657-1300. Matt provided detailed information on wallpaper design and key specs in pattern repeat, width, etc., on the additional paper that we needed to purchase. I highly recommend contacting Eloi Wallcovering."

Small jobs welcome

"They arrived exactly on time for the estimate and the removal. The price for the wallpaper removal and drywall repair was very reasonable. They completed the job cleanly and quickly, including removing and then reinstalling medicine cabinets and a large mirror. They even repaired damage to the drywall that I had done when I tried to remove the drywall myself. I will have them back to do some other ceiling and drywall repair in my home. I recommend them highly!"

"Lee was great! He was on time both days. He stuck to his timeline and finished the job in 2 days like he had said. The walls looked amazing and were ready for paint just like he had agreed. We had multiple patches done and you would never know. The knockdown looks great! Price was very fair. We were so pleased. We’ve already set up another date for him to do knockdown in another area."

"I could not ask for a more beautiful job. I had just short of two rolls of wallpaper and that's all the store had as it was on clearance. This made a very expensive paper affordable but it meant that in order to do the job there could be almost no waste. My intention was to have the lower half of the foyer wainscotted but my contractor jumped ship so Ron Couch jumped in and was able to make the wallpaper stretch. The pattern is expertly matched and it looks like a million bucks. Terrific job!"

"Kevin from J.K Decorating & Handyman, LLC did an incredible job in our walk in closet. Our home was built in the 50s and is essentially several additions so I knew the closet would be a lot of demo and additional framing to get it to look good. Kevin did an exceptional job with demo, framing and drywall. He was great with troubleshooting the surprises of an old home once the demo was completed and was very flexible with additional requests I had to see my vision come to life. He worked non-stop from morning to early evening to get it all accomplished within a week. I will definitely be using Kevin in the future as we have several more demo and drywall projects we would like to get done."

Wallpapering FAQs, answered by experts

Yes, peel-and-stick wallpaper is available that’s made from vinyl—it actually is the most common material used in peel-and-stick wallpaper. Learning how to install vinyl wallpaper is far easier when you’re using a peel-and-stick design than with adhesive. You could also select peel-and-stick wallpaper that consists of paper, polyester, or natural fibers.

While some people are confident in their ability to replace concrete by drilling out the broken pieces and replacing them with bagged concrete, it’s possible to run into snags that make hiring a professional worth it. Trying to level concrete slabs can require special equipment, which can be pricey to rent and tough to operate. It's also crucial to contact your town's municipal office to ensure you are allowed to take on the project without a permit.

It’s possible to hang your own wallpaper, but the process is tedious and potentially frustrating, and it can be challenging to get seams to line up and look clean and professional. Plus, depending on the type of wallpaper you’re installing, using too much or too little adhesive could cause damage to your drywall or plaster, peeling, and bubbling in the final product. It’s usually a better idea to hire a professional wallpaper installer to do the work for you, as the relatively low cost is justifiable, if only to avoid damage to your walls.

In most cases, it is not recommended to wallpaper over existing wallpaper, as the success depends on the type of paper already on the wall. While you might be able to cover non-coated wallpaper, you should never apply new wallpaper over a vinyl-coated one, which is more common. Doing so can lead to poor adhesion, resulting in bubbles, imperfections, and peeling. It can also trap moisture, potentially causing hazardous mold growth between the layers.

Even if the existing wallpaper is suitable, experts recommend applying only one new layer. Adding multiple layers (more than two total) can cause significant adhesion problems, leading to warping and bubbling. For the best results, the recommended approach is to remove the old wallpaper and all paste residue before hanging the new paper. If you are unsure about your wallpaper type, consider consulting a professional.

Darker walls may make tight bathrooms appear even smaller, but one dark accent wall can really make a bathroom pop. Wallpaper with a dark background can add intrigue and sophistication. Still, if you’re looking to open the room up and give it a modern, airy feeling, light colors may work best for your needs. Although there are some popular and unpopular opinions, there’s really no “should” when it comes to personal design choice.
