That was good.  I know it was more than the big deal cost.  Like two hundred dollars more.

First I want to say that Jeff Sowers painted the entire interior of my home (approx. 4200 sq. ft.) last fall. I wrote a glowing review. I have since become a realtor and had a client who was ready to list their home. However, their home wasn't quite ready to be listed. They had several rooms where they had painted the walls almost to the ceiling. I called Jeff and he was there within two hours with two of his crew. They worked for two hours and got the place ready to list. How many tradespeople do you know that would extend their Saturday especially when they had to go back on Sunday to the job they were working on? I asked Jeff about a certain (unnamed) employee that was on his crew at my house. He sadly told me a tale of a good employee gone bad. Hence the bad reviews that followed. Jeff was always extremely proud of his Angie's List reviews and would do anything to make a customer feel important and valued. He and his crew do extraordinarily good work and they are time efficient and quite affordable. I have referred him on many occasions and will continue to do so. I think we have all been "there" where a trusted person disappointed us; my heart goes out to him. In summary.....prompt....excellent results....trustworthy.....affordable.....dependable. This is a company that will do right by you.  Thank you Jeff for saving my fanny!!!!

Painting job was fine.  I got the paint cheaper by using my membership at 40% off during SW sale.  One thing was that they did not measure the house correctly and did not plan to do the porch.  That caught me by surprise.  Other than that, the work was good.

We contracted with this painter to remove the popcorn and paint a large living room for approximately 1200.dollars.
My daughter ( the homeowner ) signed a contract back in November 2014 with a deposit of $243.00 and an agreed upon work window from Monday Jan 5th thru Friday 9th as we both had to schedule vacation time off work to be there while the work was being done. My daughter took Monday off and I scheduled to be there Tuesday thru Friday. The day before work was to begin my daughter called him to confirm the schedule and was told he couldn't be there due to being backed up on another job. he assured her he would be there Tuesday morning at 9 am. That was the first work day lost.
I got up at 3 am on Tuesday morning to drive 4 hours so I could be sure to let the painters in at 9 am. At  9.30 She called him and was told he would be another day late. Day two lost. She expressed her concern about him being able to complete the job by Friday and he assured her he would be there on Wednesday morning at 9 am with extra guys. He showed up around 10.30 . There were two of them. They had no equipment and had to use our Step ladder, 24 ft extension ladder, shop vac and large black bags to even begin removing the popcorn ceiling. He said that his van was stolen by his employee and had all of his equipment in it.
The next day Thursday he showed up around 10.45 and said he had a real problem. all of our paint was in his van and he needed 250.00 dollars to buy more so that he could do the job. ( no mention of this the day earlier ) I reluctantly gave him a check because I wanted the job to go forward for my daughter. He left to go and get paint and returned 3 hours later with 5 gallons of paint. I asked him why it took so long and he said he ran out of gas. I once again expressed concern about them being finished by Friday and he said with extra guys it was going to be done. I also had serious doubts about the five gallons of paint being enough, he assured me more than once that it was.
Friday morning they showed up around 10 am , there was one extra guy. They continued to do the prep work and sanded the walls until there was a thick layer of drywall dust covering the two couches, coffee table , TV and foozball table that they had not covered due to not having enough drop cloths. They had to send one of their guys to buy more. Jeff then approached me and said he had another problem, He didn't have enough money to buy the primer and would I go and buy it. I told him absolutely not . The games were over for me. I called Sherwin Williams and they told me the paint was $30 , less if you were a painter with an account. That"s $150 worth out of $250. He showed up later with a five gallon bucket that had about 3 gallons of paint dumped in it ( he said it was primer). We are not sure where it came from or what it was exactly After all that there was still no paint on the walls by Friday afternoon.
We fired Jeff Sowers that afternoon and spent the evening cleaning the house and our equipment that he used.We have to go through the whole process again of hiring a painter and taking time off work.

He asked me not to give him a bad review on Angie's List and I told him I would give him the review that he earned.
We spent about  $500 dollars and cut our losses there.  Do yourself a favor and stay well away from this company.

The first day the crew showed up an hour late. The paint job on the three interior rooms looked good. Jeff gave me a quote for the back patio which needed walls and ceiling painted so he was going to spray it. I realized the color was wrong on one of the rooms (the stores fault not Jeffs) he agreed to repaint the room with the correct color, at a lower cost, when he returned to paint the patio. The crew then showed up two hours late on the second day. One of his workers broke a piece or our pool equipment and at the end of the day Jeff still got his full pay for the job. We pointed out some spots that needed to be touched up, he said he would come back on Monday (two days later) to do the touch up. I sent him an email to let him know that the repair to the pool equipment was $108.00 but got no response from him. He left a note on our door saying he did come by three days later to do the touch ups but we had our screened enclosure locked by then because I thought we had seen the last of him. I called him to reschedule the touch up and he never returned my calls. The "touch ups" were extensive. I basically had to repaint the entire back patio and upon closer inspection; I found paint spots all over the white trim (from roller splash) in the three interior walls. Personally; Jeff was professional but one of his workers (the one who broke our pool equipment) was arguing and cursing all day. I think I will just have to do my own painting from now on.

I am writing this review as a warning to all people to never hire Jeff Sowers. He is a crook and a liar.  We hired him to paint the exterior of our house. He constantly asked for money "to pay his workers," whom we later found out he was not paying at all, when the 2 best workers stopped showing up. Those workers quit because he was not paying them, and he told them that WE were not paying HIM, so he had no funds to pay them! We had at that point already paid him 2/3 of the amount owed, and the job was not even close to being done.  He then sent 2 new workers, supposedly to paint, and they showed up on November 21. We left the house open (as we had been doing) so that they could access the upper levels through the windows to get onto the roof. When I left for work, they were "waiting" for Jeff to arrive.  My trusted housekeeper (over 10 years) arrived 45 minutes after I left for work and there was no sign of them. They stole several pieces of valuable jewelry. While we can't prove it, we feel certain that Jeff was involved on some level, since he knew the house and of course, hired them. When the police called one of the thieves, he hung up on the police as soon as he found out who was calling, and then he had his cellphone disconnected! The police are still on the job, and took DNA from the area, so we are in hopes of some conclusion, although at this point it seems unlikely that my jewelry will be recovered. We of course fired Jeff Sowers.  When I spoke with him on the phone immediately following the burglary (prior to our firing of him), he offered no apologies or to help in any way to apprehend the thieves.
I contacted Angie's List, by the way, to let them know what had happened.  They offered to help "mediate" if I wanted to PAY them for a premium membership! I personally believe that Angie's List should take Jeff Sowers Painting off of their approved list of vendors.  I don't need to mediate with crooks, but I do believe that innocent people should not be subjected to them.  Although I have had one other good experience with a sprinkler company, I will not use Angie's List again for services.

"I am not a Liar or a theif and it was your husband's idea to pay me weekly as far as me paying my help I paid them every time you paid me and the two your referring to I fired them after learning of there drug problem and last of all how do you think the police got the names and phone numbers for the two suspects I feel sick about your jewelry but I assure you I had no knowledge of it until you called and told me"

It was okay but it was not great. He came by himself because the people who were working for him did not show up. He said that he would come back and work for the last 4 hours. I had to call him as he forgot about the appointment. When he did show up it was at 3 o’clock and I was waiting around all day for him. The work he did was satisfactory but I would not hire them again. They did okay on the cleanup but they got paint on one of my doors and forgot to wipe it off and now it is there permanently. The guest room did not turn out as well as the bedroom.

Here was much confusion about where the house was and who provides the paint, but thank goodness he had some pain in his truck that I couls purchase from him. This could have been avoided if I could have talked to someone instead of relying on email only to conduct business.

The workmanship was very sloppy, but I have to take half the blame for that since I wasn't on site for either of the 2 days Jeff's team performed the work. I was unclear which areas were nice-to-haves vs. must-haves. It kind of worked out the opposite, and I have a bit more painting to do than I hoped. And this was the first time I've hired painters, so my expectations could have been unrealistic.
I did have quality issues with the use of the sprayer. I changed colors of white on the ceiling, and the ceilings that didn't have the painting completely done has nice foot-wide swaths above the walls that the sprayers did paint. I have to assume very little tarping and masking was done, since so much furniture and countertops, etc had a nice dusting of paint residue. The closet doors weren't covered (the assumption that I was replacing them anyway, which was part of my communication), but the stuff inside the closets got painted with the sprayer too. Clothes, fan blades that were removed for the ceiling spray, my laptop that I put in there to keep out of the way...the work was ridiculously cheap but the investment to clean and throw away some clothes notched that up. I just can't believe it would be normal to spray on & around closet doors and not anticipate things inside to be affected as well? My beautiful heirloom leather coat, may it rest in peace.
Also  during the pre-paint walk-through I mentioned I was having a handyman come to fix the numerous imperfections in the walls that were to be painted, the response was to please let Jeff's team do that work, since he didn't trust a handyman's quality. I was impressed, until I came back and saw many missed areas and some that were done very poorly, making the walls look even worse (drama aside, maybe just not better). Again that could be because I poorly communicated my wishes and was absent.
In fairness, when Jeff came by for the add'l payment and he saw some of the paint drips on the furniture he quickly offered to make it right. But the fact of so many issues...I can only assume the work leader was a new guy. Because Jeff seemed to have a higher quality standard based on my couple of interactions.
On the plus side, the prep work that the painters had to do was amazing. There was a lot of furniture moving (I had just dumped my household goods shipment in the middle of each room), all the carpet cutting, and dis-assembly of fixtures. And some priming was done too. I know it irritated them, but the painters did a good job of it and I imagine it took a significant amount of manpower from the painting.
There are some add'l issues but don't need to belabor the point. I'm very surprised I had all this to write after such glowing reviews. Must be a new guy on the team, is all I can guess. And I need to be more clear and/or present for future work done.

Jeff and his crew did a great job on walls, ceilings, trim, and doors in our den, living room, dining room, and kitchen.  They did a professional job for a reasonable price.   Jeremy didn't like the initial look of the ceilings, and the guys spent extra time and paint on making sure it was right.  All the guys were pleasant and professional, and went out of their way to make sure we weren't inconvenienced more than necessary during the job.  We've already recommended Jeff and his crew to friends.

This is a follow up to my review from June 5 2014. At the time, it was a work in progress. I forgot to write the follow up review. Last week my boyfriend bumped into Jeff at the DMV and it reminded me. When my boyfriend texted me, I told him to make sure he told Jeff we loved the work he did. I was very pleased with the ceilings and walls. He really has talent with patching, taping and painting. I am going to have him back in the future to paint 3 closets.
