"The first quote Walter gave me was outrageous but then he figured out a way to help us without charging an arm & a leg. He even sat his van & waited for us to purchase a new ceiling fan to install. The old fan which I bought at a tag sale didn't have the mounting plate he needed to hang the fan. Anyway the new fan worked out well & he saved us a lot of money with his suggestions."

"This company was absolutely fantastic to work with, from the initial sales appointment to the installation to several months after the installation when we requested documents.  Every person we came into contact with was polite and professional, and all of our calls and emails were returned promptly.  The work crews that came out were so nice that I bought them pizza for lunch to thank them for their hard work.

We had several (as in, probably at least ten) roofing companies come out to give us an estimate to replace our shingle roof with a metal roof.  Solar Shield was the first we contacted.  I don't recall the name of the sales person who came to our house to go over the product and the process, but he was phenomenal (he was an older gentleman; my husband says he looks like Packers coach Mike McCarthy!).  I realize that that's his job as a salesperson, but after getting taken in by a window company salesman in our much younger days, I'm a skeptic and a hard sell.  He was very thorough in explaining the process and the product to us, down to the exact screws they would use and the method they used to screw the roof to the deck, and made sure to answer all of my questions (I ask a LOT of questions so that I know what I'm getting into), and after evaluating the product and reading reviews online, we were fairly certain we would be going with Solar Shield.  He gave us a price of $25000 for our roof, which sounds insanely high after getting estimates of around $12000 to replace the roof with another shingle roof, and we wanted to do our due diligence before signing.  Our house is a single story with an area of about 2500 square feet and a hipped roof with a few bump outs and an elevated porch roof, and the layout is in an L-shape, so it's not just a square house with a simple gable roof.

After the Solar Shield presentation, we had a lot of other companies come out to gives us estimates, which ranged in price from $18000 to $32000, so Solar Shield's price was literally right smack in the middle.  The $18000 estimate didn't even include wind mitigation or to remove the old roof/repair the roof deck; the guy said it wasn't necessary.  Um, how do you know my roof deck is in good shape if you're just going to plop another roof right on top of it?  Please see comment where my roof was leaking.  No, thanks.  None of the other estimates included wind mitigation, either, and their products were all substandard to the Solar Shield product (this is why I ask so many questions).  I'm of the belief that when you get multiple comparable estimates, your safest bet is typically to go with the one in the middle.  So not only was Solar Shield's product the best, in my opinion, but they were also right in the middle of all of the estimates I got.

My only complaint is that it took four months for them to start work on my roof.  I know it wasn't their fault, because they had other jobs ahead of me and we had a very rainy fall so they kept getting pushed back, but it was just frustrating because my roof was leaking and I needed it done ASAP.  However, they were amazing at keeping me updated on the status of my job when I would call or email.

Once they started work, the job was done in about a week (it's been five months; I don't remember exactly how long it took).  They were so incredibly thorough that even my incredibly nosy neighbor, who is constantly sitting in her front yard spying on the neighbors, mentioned that they did an amazing job.  That same neighbor, when I told her we were getting a metal roof, looked down on us and said "Is that even legal?" because she didn't think it would look good and was trying to convince us not to do it.  After it was done, she said it looks amazing compared to all of the other roofs in the neighborhood.  I'm slightly (okay, a lot) anal retentive, and a lot of minute little things that other people wouldn't even notice annoy the crap out of me, and once I notice them, I fixate on them.  There is not one thing about this roof that I have found a problem with.  No exaggeration, every single day when I drive up to our house I notice the screws on the roof, which are visible (they are meant to be), and I notice how perfectly straight across they are.  There is literally not a single screw out of line; trust me, if there was, I would have noticed it.

Even after the fact, the company has been very responsive.  I emailed Renee, the office manager, several months after the roof was completed to request the wind mitigation documents so I could get homeowners insurance estimates (I honestly probably should have been sent the documents much sooner, but whatever, I wasn't in a hurry).  She had the documents and pictures mailed to me within a day or two, including an additional packet for our records.

I would absolutely recommend this company to any of our friends or family who are interested in a metal roof.  The roof is insanely quiet, and a lot of times when it rains we can only tell if it is downpouring really hard or it's just a really loud storm.  I only wish they also did solar panels, since we would like to have some installed and with their service record we're sure they would do an excellent job (they did offer to come our for a free consultation whenever we do get solar panels, to make sure the solar panel company installs them onto our roof properly, which I thought was very good customer service).

Update on 7/28/2015: We were shopping for new homeowners insurance and showed the insurance our wind mitigation form to get the wind mit credit.  Our insurance agent said that the wind mitigation options that were done on our house was the best she had ever seen (there are different levels of wind mitigation apparently, and all of ours were the highest).  Just one more reason why this company did a great job!"

"I spoke to a man on the phone and he gave me a quote to wall mount two TVs - a 55-inch and a 32-inch - with wall mounts I had already purchased and hide the cords behind the wall for $325. This seemed high compared to what I knew friends had paid for the same service, but I needed it done quickly so I agreed. When he arrived with a female assistant, he said he wouldn?t be able to hide the cords because of the location of the outlet. This didn?t entirely make sense to me, again because of other places I?ve seen this done, but I proceeded anyway. When it came time to pay, I asked if they would charge less because they were unable to hide the cords, the woman said that the $325 quote was for two 32-inch TVs, so I was actually being charged less than I should be. That is simply not true - we were very clear on the phone when he provided the quote. I paid, but I am very unhappy with the service performed and certainly with what I had to pay for it."

"Vendor arrived on time, diagnosed the problem and said I needed a new ceiling fan. He called Choice, We waited approximately 10 minutes for a call back and an approval to replace the ceiling fan. He went out the truck and brought in a new fan and mounted it. I did have the option of going out to buy a specific make and model vs their replacement one and then he would mount it if I desired. Great service, I am glad I switched to Choice when my last warranty came up for renewal."

Tv Mount Install questions, answered by experts

Professionals can provide alternatives, like using stands or no-drill mounts where applicable.

You will be placing holes in the wall to hang the mounting bracket. If you’re mounting a large TV, the bolts in use could make significant holes around half an inch in diameter. Other than a few holes, though, the process of mounting the TV should not cause significant damage to the wall, unless you make an error and miss the wall stud, tearing out drywall. Should you decide to remove the mount later, the DIY drywall repair cost for a small hole usually is $10 to $30. It’s a repair you can do in a few minutes.

The cost to have a TV professionally mounted typically ranges from $160 to $360, with a national average of about $260. This price is for labor and does not include the TV mount itself. Several factors can affect the final cost, including the size of the TV and the type of mount used; for example, a fireplace mount costs more than an under-cabinet one. If you want to hide the wires within the wall, the price can increase significantly, potentially to $1,000 or more. For an accurate estimate, it is best to contact a local TV mounting service.

Yes, drywall can hold a 50-pound TV. However, when mounting a TV, you’ll either need to attach it to wall studs or use drywall anchors. If you use anchors, make sure to buy a type that can hold at least 50 pounds. Molly bolts, threaded anchors, and toggle bolts are all good options. For extra support, you can also install a wall mounting plate with the anchors.

Professionals mount TVs using specialized tools and knowledge of different wall materials, ensuring safe support.
