"Julio did a great job and we really like how our shower conversion turned out. He did quality work throughout the project from the beginning to end. Installed a custom shower pan where our tub once was added new board and did all tile work as well as installing grab bars and a bench. He kept us informed with updates on the project as he went. Julio particularly has a passion for getting all the details right. We would definitely use him again."

Customers say: Quick response

"Hired David Graf to repair a rotten beam on our patio, replace stucco/drywall around it, and redo the second floor balcony decking with new hand railings. Not only David provided us with the most competitive estimate, he realized some material savings during the process which ended up saving about 10% at the end. Quality exceeded our expectations. He is a man of his word - definitely would hire him again! Thanks David!"

Install Stair Railings questions, answered by experts

Whether you paint or stain stair railings depends on your aesthetic goals and preferences. Some people prefer to stain because it highlights wood's natural beauty. But you may want to paint your railings if you're going for a particular color scheme. Paint may cost less than wood stain and is usually available in a wider range of options.

The lifespan of a spiral staircase depends on the material used and the level of maintenance provided. Metal and composite staircases can last up to 30 years or more with proper care, while wood staircases may require refinishing or repairs over time. Regular maintenance extends the life and appearance of your staircase.

Yes, adding railing to a deck is a great way to improve safety and your home’s aesthetic appeal. Railings can be constructed from wood, metal, or composite, and there are plenty of choices regarding design and style. Always consult local building codes before starting any building project—there are often requirements regarding spacing and height that can differ slightly from place to place.

Choices include oak, maple, and cherry for varied styles and durability.

While local building codes vary, a handrail is typically required for stairways with three or four or more risers (steps). For staircases with fewer steps, such as two or three, a handrail may not be legally required. However, it is always best to check your local building codes to confirm the specific requirements in your area. Even if not mandated by code, some homeowners install handrails for comfort, insurance purposes, or if someone in the home has mobility challenges.
