Fisher Precious Metals is a national gold and silver dealer. Listed as a national dealer with the United States Mint, Fisher Precious Metals is a trusted resource for gold and silver coins and bars. Established in 1995, the firm works with individuals on all issues related to buying and selling physical precious metals, storage, security, estate liquidation and long-term exit strategies. John Fisher, the President, is an ICTA Board Member and is approved by the State of Florida to teach Continuing Education courses on precious metals investing to CFP's, CPA's, attorneys and insurance professionals. In addition, John is a frequent guest on various financial radio broadcast programs. Fisher Precious Metals is an A+ rated Accredited Business with the Better Business Bureau.

"It went great! We found Fisher Precious Metals on Angie's List, and after googling them, we found they had very positive reviews across the web. Although it was a 45 minute drive from our home, we felt it might be worth it, and it was. We made an appointment with John via email, arrived at 11:00, and spent just over an hour in his office. He evaluated the sterling silver set we had to sell and gave us what we felt was a very fair price. He'd given us an estimate on the value of the gold coins via email, and although the price of gold had fluctuated since he'd provided the quote, the final price was very, very close to the initial quote. We were happy to learn that they will also buy jewelry, as I have a few pieces I haven't worn in a very long time. We were very pleased with the entire experience and will definitely return to their company when we have gold or silver to sell, and we're happy to recommend them to our friends. One thing to keep in mind is that sterling silver sets are basically worth the price of the silver itself. We knew that going in, so we were not disappointed and, in fact, the price we received was a little higher than we'd expected."

We were founded in 1963 by Emory M. Robinson, long time hobbyist, coin lover and collector himself. Edgewood Coin Co. opened at 934 Edgewood Ave S, directly next to the Murray Hill Theatre, which he also owned at the time, in its movie-showing days. Edgewood Coin started as a hobby-turned-side business, and become his sole, full time work, selling the movie theatre and eventually expanding the coin shop from 934 Edgewood Ave S, right next door to a then newly-remodeled and bigger venue, 936 Edgewood Ave. S, where we are still today. In his later years in life, when asked when he was going to retire, Emory would say that he was, and had been for years (despite the fact that he was running a business); he was just doing what he loved. He was a pillar and vast depth of knowledge in establishing the coin community as we know it today, especially in our local community. Our current space at 936 Edgewood Ave S, housed his hobbies and interests, from coins, to currency, to long conversations with close customers and friends, to a diverse bank collection, collectible bottles, artwork, and historical pieces displayed high and low. As a family business, family centers as a priority and theme and kids were raised partially within those same walls. Emory was founder and owner of the company, up until his passing in January of 2018, survived by his wife Patsy, who owned and operated it for years but has now retired. The family’s still here, with Emory and Patsy’s daughter-in-law Lisa their son Johnny’s wife, and granddaughters Jessica and Sarah, continuing ownership and management.

"WARNING: Edgewood coin has a thief among them......I turned in my grandmother's engagement ring as one of the diamonds fell out and I needed it replaced. WHELP, they don't have it. On top of that, I was told the previous jeweler passed away and his wife took his materials....promising to call his clients. I got zero phone calls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When I find the ticket for it, I will be filing a police report and I'm posting this review everywhere I can think to post it!! [*** Link removed ***]"

DBA: B Langston Antiques, Langston's of San Marco Inc *** B. Langston’s is a well established auction, moving and estate sale company, which has been in business since 1978. As we know from being in a similar situation with my own mother and father, it is very hard emotionally, physically, not to mention a time consuming effort is required to liquidate a household. That’s where we can be part of a support team. The services we offer are a total package. From start to finish. From initial set up of the sale, to the final removal of all remaining items. Leaving you with a clean empty house.

"This is a disreputable business. The conduct of their estate sales is unprofessional, their recordkeeping is a shambles, and they do not pay the property owners within the time allotted by the contract. They do not return calls or correspondence. Please save your family the frustration and sadness, and work with someone else."

Antiques and Jewelry Appraisals questions, answered by experts

Appraisals can come in above or below the list price or offer price for a property, and where it falls depends on many factors. Those include the condition of the property, the location, and the age of the home, but often, the condition of the market is the biggest determining factor. Where demand is high for properties, buyers compete with each other for homes, which tends to drive up offer prices above where appraisals come in. Where demand is low, you’ll often see the opposite happening.

While parts of the appraisal are out of your control, there are some things you can do to potentially raise the home’s value. You can make necessary repairs and upgrades before the appraiser visits—an appraiser can only value what is currently part of the home, not its potential. You can also provide the appraiser with the cost of recent upgrades. The appraiser will likely increase the value of your home by about 50% or more of what you paid for those improvements.

Ensure the property is clean, provide access to all areas, and supply relevant documents, such as recent upgrades or tax records.

Wainscoting isn’t a design element that can be directly tied to an increased house price. Despite that, it is a highly marketable element that can generate significant interest from potential buyers who enjoy the style, and is relatively inexpensive to remove for those who don’t. If you are on the fence about paneling, just know that it certainly wouldn’t result in depreciation of your home’s value—usually the opposite.

Some appraisers hold a Member of the Appraisal Institute designation. This accolade is the highest credential property appraisers can earn. An MAI appraisal is typically used for commercial properties.

While your lender will likely recommend an appraiser, you can also hire a professional home appraiser on your own. Choose someone who is experienced in your type of residential property, and ensure they hold all of the necessary credentials that your state or region requires.
