"Excellent, was on time and perfect. Brad and his team (sorry, forgot his name) were even able to lift the concrete wall and it was done perfectly. They even caulked around the entire area, cleaned it out etc. Used hydraulic lift to lift it and then put the foundation repair compound. THank you."
The homeowner's driveway had endured years of wear and tear, resulting in discoloration and numerous cracks across the surface. Additionally, the concrete slabs had become uneven due to the soil settling beneath them.
Due to soil settlement and poorly placed control joints, the customer's driveway had significant cracking. You can see that some stains have formed, indicating that the concrete lacks sealant protection.
The homeowner knew that their home's addition had experienced settlement damage when vertical cracks appeared on the exterior walls.
The homeowner became alarmed when they noticed stair-step cracking patterns emerging from the window frame in the exterior wall of the home.
Upon noticing significant cracks developing in the walls, the homeowner became concerned about their foundation's condition.

"Ernane of SL Contsruction was very professional and very prompt with getting us a quote and keeping us informed as the project progressed. Ernane and his crew replaced my old paver driveway that had been heavily damaged by tree roots. They did an excellent job of removing the tree roots and then installing the new pavers. The job was completed on time for the price that he quoted. We are very happy with our experience and would highly recommend SL Construction ."

"Rock Hill Restorations recently completed my full kitchen remodel, and I couldn’t be more impressed with the entire experience. From start to finish, their quality of work was exceptional—every detail was handled with precision, care, and true craftsmanship. The finished kitchen not only looks beautiful but also functions exactly the way I envisioned. What stood out the most, however, was their integrity and honesty throughout the project. They were upfront about timelines, pricing, and options, and there were never any surprises or unnecessary upsells. It was refreshing to work with a company that values transparency as much as they value the work itself. If you’re looking for a contractor you can trust—one that delivers high-quality results with honesty, integrity, and respect—Rock Hill Restorations is an outstanding choice. I’m thrilled with my new kitchen and truly grateful for the experience. Highly recommended!"

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Masonry is an umbrella term that involves adhering individual building materials together using an adhesive, so many different things are considered masonry. These include constructing stone or brick walls or facades, installing stucco siding, installing backsplashes or tile floors, and even installing glass block windows, in some cases. Masonry materials include natural stone, clay bricks, concrete bricks, glass blocks, and tiles.

Costs range from $3,500 to $15,000, depending on material, labor, and design complexity.

You will repoint over a fraction of the old mortar, but you should scrape away 1/2 to 1 inch of mortar from the joints before repointing. Otherwise, the repointing is only masking the weakened mortar instead of actually replacing it, which could put your chimney at risk of bigger, more expensive damages later on.

Some older brick material is extremely hard, making it tough to create a hole. Rather than using a typical wood drill bit, always use a masonry drill bit when drilling into brick. For extremely hard brick, using a power drill with a hammer function may give you better results. The drill bit will heat up as it goes into the extremely hard brick, so you may need to stop after a few minutes and allow the bit to cool before starting to drill again.

Do not use super glue to hang lights on brick unless you want your lights up year-round. Hot glue is a better choice because it’s easily removable with a small amount of rubbing alcohol. Super glue is very hard to remove, and you could tear off parts of the brick in the removal process.
